They were better off trying to bring in players on 1- or two-year deals instead of giving out golden parachute type contracts. The team was playing a defense first system anyway and could not or would not sign top UFA's.

Here is another take on Lou. Stan is way off base regarding Shayna Goldman blog being a hit piece on Lou. Stan cannot see past the Lou from the NJ glory days. It's good the Islander are still within striking distance of the playoffs, but a vet win now team should do better than just struggling to make the playoffs.

The article is fair and I think it's how the majority of the fanbase feels at this point. Lou has been a great gm and brought the team out of the dark days but it's time for someone that understands the modern salary cap better. I think lou is loyal to a fault and gives the players too much security and I'm afraid it will handicap any retool or build for the next few years. I'd love to be wrong but this may be more than a new coach as whoever comes in will have the same roster moving forward

Exactly right Upstate! Nobody is taking away everything Lou has accomplished in his career. The honest truth is Lou has struggled in a Cap world long before Covid. It's better to let players like Mayfield and Engvall leave then putting the team in a bad spot by heading out 7-year contracts. Lou is no longer the right person going forward.

I was nervous about bringing in Lou, but he gave the Isles some desperately needed credibility and showed that L&M were serious. Once Lou was in charge no one thought for a second that Snow was doing anything other that sitting in his office waiting for his contract to expire. Lou also got us Trotz. While that didn't fully work out, it also showed the Isles were a legit organization.

Now it's time for a change.

That's how I feel, appreciate him bringing us back to respectability but need a new voice. I will say that if they can figure out the pk and d zone they can be a good team

Lee draws a penalty there. Now let’s get one on the PP.

He was so good during those pandemic-shortened seasons. Very average on even ice situations since.
