So we have roughly 20mil in space
6 pesce
3.5 dillon
Let's say 7.5 for stammer or marsh

That's 17 which leaves 3 for mercer and 2 depth

- dmarsden2988

Seems about right. We'll see what the contracts come in at. Definitely nervous about what they could be. Hoping Pesce comes in under 6, hoping Dillon is 3.5 or less, and hoping Marchessault is no more than 3 years at 6.5 or less.

Per Chris Johnston, the Brett Pesce deal with Devils is expected to come in at 6 years, 5.5M AAV range.

I wonder if part of the Vegas deal was the ability to start contract talks with him early. Like Vegas gave permission.

Apparently another team has gone in hard for Marchessault with a better offer. Might be Nashville(they're also heavily in on Stamkos too).

Looks like both could be heading there.

What other top 6 options are there?

Is there a possibility at some point within his KHL contract, the Devils can negotiate with KHL and/or NHL to get that big boy here sooner if he is ready?

Or he has to fulfill his KHL contract no matter what?

No idea. Seems like a lot of the top options are off the board barring anything changing. Likely will need to be through trade if that's the case.

I believe the contract can either be brought out or placed on hold so if he retires from NHL in 15 years his rights are still with the khl team but almost always they play the contract out as development

It's only 2 years. He and his agent both said he's playing out the rest of his contract, he needs the development.

Do we have any surplus trade assets? Can't trade next years 1st due to markstrom trade and other than casey and silayev can't think or any high end assets

Haula isn't a top 6 player and mercer idk if will be used on 3rd line or try 2nd line wing but still leaves holes in bottom 6

Multiple 2nds, Silayev, Casey, and Gritsyuk are probably the biggest assets. Depending how big they want to go, Mercer and Nemec could be moved if it's a huge deal.

It’s almost… almost as if.. we have an open spot.. for a guy that can score.. a guy that maybe is still developing, but when I’m the top 6, with competent coaching.. maybe could develop into a 30g scorer… and for next to nothing on the cap. Dang wouldn’t that be great?!

Unless it's a top line player or one with high potential and under contract or control I can't see Fitz trading nemec

Nashville giving Stamkos 4 years at 8M and Marchessault 5 years is crazy.

That's why I said it depends how big he goes. Fitz would move Nemec for Brady Tkachuk for example. But Sens obviously aren't moving him.

Per Rick Dhaliwal, Devils are giving Brenden Dillon a 3 year deal. AAV not known yet.

That is crazy. Even 4yrs for March would be an overpayment. I was hoping we’d do 3x5mil for him.

Same lol. Believe we offered him the same money, maybe slightly more, but Nashville gave him the extra years.

If nashville think they are cup contenders for next 2 years the March and stammer deals will be worth it but in 4 years may be painful

Maybe not as painful as the parise and suter deals
