On the farm I guess we run out of ELC to make team like Raty and Pods. But cheap help contracts like Hogs is signed for can still make the team. - Quinn's Quest
Prospects are not ready to step in & make an impact yet. Just sayin going forward the need for more top talent needed. Currently too much cap is tied up in wingers. PA working the phones is one thing but league wide teadi v wingers is difficult. |

You aren't getting 2 - 2.5M forwards that are going to provide the same results as RNH does. You can get 2 - 5M forwards that do the same as Drais. - manvanfan
Sure you are, you just won't admit it. Hoglander, Lafferty and Joshua collectively play a more important, less expensive, role than RNH does by himself when you consider McDavid and Draisaitl are ahead of him at center. But I agree with you, trading Draisaitl for a winger and a defenseman or goaltender could improve their team immensely. It could also backfire on them like Boston trading Joe Thornton for nobody.
At the end of the day my point stands, they have cap space that's wasted on the wrong areas. As do most teams. It's not a perfect science. |

If you ask Edmonton for RNH for Lafftery, Hoglander, Joshua they would probably die from laughter. Not probably but they would for sure die from laughing so hard. |

Where did that trade come from?
Edit: it was just an example of depth adding more value than one 5 million dollar player. As in, they haven't spent their cap wisely. They signed Sam Gagner for cryin out loud for depth LOL. |

They don't provide the same value. Obviously RNH is much more valuable than the 3 of them. If you could trade RNH for a top 4 D maybe. You still wouldn't be playing better defence until you can get some forwards to play a little D. |

Cap Friendly just tweeted the Blackhawks will have, as it stands now, $57,259,539 in deadline cap space. I wonder how many draft picks they can buy with that. |

You just have to win at all costs hey.
This is the last I'll comment on it but my point still stands, they've misspent their cap space on guys like Nurse and RNH because they lack depth and defensive awareness. I understand RNH is a good defensive forward but having one guy like him clearly isn't working for them. Thus I think they've misspent their cap space./ |

They have 28 picks in the next 3 years. Picked 38 players over the past 4 years.
Byron Bader has them in 7th in his rankings which does include Bedard. They might want to think about getting actual NHL talent for Bedard to play with, within the next decade |

They've only been at it two years now, rebuilding through the draft with a new GM. One more year would go a long ways. They'll probably acquire another first round pick. |

Says the guy who is not going to talk about it anymore so that he feels like he won.
It's like thinking that having 1 good defensive forward isn't working but having none would improve them defensively.
Yeah you won this one alright. |
