My question is what pieces do you have to move? Hart? TK? Laughts? Is there really all that much? I dunno... I personally want a king's ransom for Hart or TK. Otherwise, no dice. Laughts can go whenever, but I wish they would have done that when they apparently could have had a first round pick for him.

I personally don't believe that Carter Hart will fetch a kings ransom. I don't think Konecny will either. Konecny can fetch a strong return but he is not an elite player. He's a step below.

Do I take that to mean that you don't think it's different this season? Honestly not trying to be smart. Honest question.
- MJL

I still think it is drastically different than the past couple of years, they are generating more offense. More so the nonsense, team that can’t score we are sitting one of our best playmakers, Marc staal right back in there, the RP nonsense, and just looking at Torts smug face on the bench each game. It’s hard to keep coming back game after game

And that is it, Torts could be good but his smug and has a huge ego, putting it before the team right now

TK will get a good haul as that team will have him for 2 playoff runs. He will also be slotted more properly. Retain 50% and you should be able to clean house on that type of deal.

agree with hart Cliff.

I know goalies tend to not get as good of as a return as one would expect, but I wonder how desperate that the Oil could be to get their hometown boy back in town. Otherwise, I keep both. I really struggle with my thought about TK. Gotta be a no doubt about it package for me to move him. He's still only 26 and he has played like his hair has been on fire since Torts benched him at the beginning of last season. For the right package...yes! I'd like to see him as the next captain if somehow Coots and Atkinson move on.

I think they have a couple of d on expiring contracts in Walker and Seeler. Walker has played well enough to play in most teams 2nd pairing. Right handed as well.

Obviously depending on what they want to do, timing and return…maybe they do make Hart and Konecny available? Both of these guys don’t have a lot of term left so could the Flyers eat some salary for the next year and a half to facilitate a return?

Frost is obvious and perhaps Tippets camp is not in step on his next deal that’s right around the corner with Flyers management.

I personally hope TK stays. The Oilers are desperate but Skinners game last night might give them a bit of pause, with regards to another goalie.

Yeah, I really like Walker's game. I thought he was just a throw in for that trade, but he is pretty impressive. I knew he was pretty good before his injury. Probably best to move him for assets although I don't know if I'd think about reupping him for a couple of years while the young defense is coming along. Torts needs to stop pulling his pudd with Frost and get him back on the ice! He's only diminishing his trade value if they are really set on moving him. It's really strange at this point. Certainly seems personal and that's just wrong on Tort's part.

I doubt it imo. They need game to game stability. Cant hope skinner gives you that at this point.

Walker, Seeler? I'd wait until closer to the deadline when teams get more desperate. I just don't know about TK and Hart cause they are in that tweener age and I like their games for the most part. I actually think TK could be the captain if you could move Coots and eventually Atkinson next year. TK brings it every night now and he has the potential to be a 35-40 goal guy.
- Phillywhiteout

walker
seeler
TK
Hart
Laughton
Frost
Tippet (IMO)

All can be easily moved if they go that route.

I do not recall Meltzer ever speaking directly about the behavior of the coach and his interaction with him.
Bounds are being broken.
This is important.
I'm not sure of the dimensions of that 'import', but it strikes me as big.
Bill is a FAN. If he is revealing this moment, he thinks it is important and it has thoroughly ticked him off. It's not typical journalism for a gent getting paid by the employer of the coach to place himself in the crosshairs of that coach and his emotional baggage.
Ripples will be seen.
This is the most dramatic moment in my excessively long fandom.
That is based on the normal rectitude of Bill, his ability to frame a situation, and his EXPLOSIVE outburst here.
It's like a seamount deciding to volcano. Doesn't look like much at first......

At heart, a fan since I was a three-year-old when the Flyers won their first Stanley Cup. Between every level of hockey I've easily seen 3,000 games in my lifetime. Although I've only played recreationally and would never tell anyone that I'm any damn good at it, I KNOW the game. (My brain knows what to, my body goes, "That's nice. We're not doing that.")

The bottom line is this: Hockey writing is my living. I've been all over the world -- Sweden for the WJC, Czech Republic, Russia with the Flyers Alumni, NHL Drafts in a variety of locales, road buildings, several AHL pressboxes, an ECHL pressbox, doing coverage of Division 3 NCAA hockey. I translated a hockey biography (Pelle Lindbergh's) from Swedish to English. I've been a credentialed NHL reporter for 23 years.

I've had two Hockey Hall of Famers (Mark Howe and Bill Barber) tell me they read my stuff all the time because of my knowledge and research. Others, including NHL GMs, assistant GMs and scouts have told me similar. International Scouting Services, about six years ago, asked if I'd be interested in being forrmally trained to do some bird-dog scouting.

So I'm just not a fan. I think I know what I'm talking about. And i really didn't appreciate being made to question myself that a certain sequence in a game actually happened as I phrased a question about it. It's not a personal clash. Torts had a bad day. I get it.

And that's that.

why would Walker only take a couple years, with the flyers, when this is likely his last chance for a big contract?

hart/seeler package? Though I imagine the Oilers want a better upgrade than Seeler.

Maybe dump RR on them though will have to take back Campbell. Would anyone make that trade? RR for Campbell + a pick/prospect?

I finally watched it this morning. He seemed flustered over all. He did start to provide some in depth analysis on the next question, but it was clear he did not want to be there. Your overall knowledge isn’t and shouldn’t be in question. I realize though on a human level that response would suck….with my temper I could not do what you do…lol

Better be a really good prospect and pick….at least RR is a legit NHL D man. Campbell Is toiling in the AHL on a in the 2nd year of a 5 year 25 $ million dollar deal. Yikes.

what would the oilers give up, assuming they were interested in that type of deal.

Do not think the flyers would do it as RR is core player......

Are you suggesting that the Flyers are considering a coaching change and this is a part of an effort to make Tortorella less appealing to the “hit somebody” crowd? Bill has seemed unusually combative and critical of the coach lately. He is typically the most calm and analytical source of Flyer’s info around. I totally understand Bill being offended and annoyed by Tortorella’s routine. It’s ridiculous that Tortorella has been allowed and rewarded for his childish behavior for so long.

I just think Campbell has too much term left. I’m sure EDM would jump at that. I’m sure it would have to include EDM 2024 1rst. I did read a few days ago that EDM listed Draisaitl and MacDavid along with their 2024 1rst round as untouchable pieces…sorry Ek.

4 years compared to 3. Do not get me wrong it is a bad contract. Maybe in a less hockey crazed environment he can be serviceable for a few years until ready to really contend. As you said all depends on the asset/assets coming back.

I do not buy the 2024 pick is untouchable at all. It will get moved imo.

On a side note my guess is they buy out Peterson after this year unless he really plays well.

Initially I thought that the oil would be a fit for hart but not so sure now. You’d ask a first and a prospect I think but again we’d have to eat salary for it to work. Further, if he goes there and they do ok, The first pick ends up being close to a 2nd. I’d want a boat load or you might as well keep him imo. There’s no reason just to dump him for the sake of change.

Yeah. There’s too much term left on Campbell contract. I can’t see them having Campbell and Petersen for 10 mil with neither being an nhl starter.
