Of course it's time for Frost to be traded. It should have happened in the off-season. Now, what market does Frost have? How can the Flyers maximize the return on the asset? It's short-sighted to bench Frost, he needs to play and then he will have value at the deadline. The Flyers IMO are not being smart here. - jd250
I don’t like this narrative, but it may be best that he get traded later this year. The biggest issue with that is that you’d be trading low. You’ve scratched him and destroyed his confidence so we don’t really have an idea of his true potential. I don’t tend to critique lineups too much but this one just makes zero sense. - Hextall271
I bet his confidence is fine and is laughing his ass to some extent knowing how silly what this has turned into.
other teams know the coach doesn't like him. I do not see his value changing much, whatever it is.

why should it have happened in the off season seeing how he finished the year? Many should have been traded in the off season.
perhaps they tried and no team met their asking price.....
Torts just doesn't like Frost. I would hope it's not personal but who knows at this point. The media has asked Torts about this but at this point I would like the media to be much more aggressive in their questioning. As a fan, I would like to know why Torts is got it out for Frost. Torts has been forthcoming with many other issues, he needs to be more transparent in regards to Frost. - jd250
Did you have an epiphany over Thanksgiving? Was there something in the turkey? 48 hours ago, or so, you're posting that the players who are playing are better to try and justify Tortorella's decisions. Now you want to know why he has it out for Frost. Tortorella is rarely forthcoming. There is very little that you can trust that comes out of his mouth as being reality. Maybe in his world.
Briere: "Torts, you can't play Nic in the lineup tonight"
Torts: "Well I am playing him, the lineup is mine"
Briere: "True, the lineup is yours. All I am saying is you can't play Nic in the lineup tonight"
Briere: "And why not?"
Torts: "Because he plays for the Canadiens now"
Torts: "You agree with this???"
MJL: "100% ... you want this door open?" - jd250
You're entering the season with a Cup-caliber roster... Torts and Lavi are both available hires for your vacant head coach position.... who would you trust? - Tomahawk
Laviolette for sure. I think personally that Laviolette plays a wide open very aggressive style of play with his 3 man press forecheck that is a little too aggressive. If he has the right roster though it is proven to be successful. While Tortorella plays too much on the conservative side. Although better this year than last year. I'll take the over aggressiveness over what Tortorella offers. Especially when you add in Tortorella's schizophrenia, dishonesty and lack of consistency.

As reported yesterday by Darren Dreger the Flyers are very active in trying to make changes. If true I like it. They have played well and are not desperate to just dump guys….other teams with much bigger aspirations then the Flyers are desperate. Hopefully if there was an “asking price” issue in the summer the start to the season has alleviated that.

Let’s wait to see what the trade is before we like it.

I fully buy that there are discussions going on but I don't buy that the Flyers are going to be very active at this time of year in making changes. The market just isn't there. We'll see what happens and what this team really thinks next year as they get close to the trade deadline. Depending on where they're at in the standings.

Lavi's like an instant shot of energy. The effects wear off pretty quickly but it can really jump start a team. He has weaknesses on the XO side and his ability to make adjustments is... near nonexistent.
Torts is the opposite... he's like a hand grenade tossed into the room at the beginning, and then he methodically puts everything back together in his preferred image over time. Problem is his process rarely ever reaches its conclusion... his domineering ways can only be stomached for so long by players and management.
In the end I would probably take Lavi too, just for that jolt to a Cup-caliber team.
That structure isn't exactly plug and play, tho. Torts will always create a lot of upheaval to get his points across.
Case in point: Vancouver 2013, ironically the last time Torts was in a Cup-caliber situation.
Lavi also has his flaws too, tho. - Tomahawk
He had the Sedin twins blocking shots and killing penalties which is still better than how he's treating frost. In unrelated news, they canned him 1 year into a 5 year deal. A lot of teams have paid Torts not to coach them.

Define active? I do not believe in any way they are looking to trade the players they should trade. Do you?
so does very active mean they are looking to buy? Sell? A very vague report as pretty much every team is looking at moves imo.
With the spot they are currently in there is no way they look to change that in terms of subtracting players. Less Frost

Perfectly phrased. It's such a shame with Tortorella because he clearly knows how to build and form a team the way he wants it and get them to play cohesively. The issue is that his vision of how a team should be built and play, is from the stone ages. If I have a roster that is cup capable, Laviolette all the way.
