Only brought those two up because I think that’s what everyone has become accustomed to.
I think they might do a bit better on Seeler and get a decent young “B” prospect back if they choose to move him.
I didn’t hear those #s on Walker but with his age, injury history and for where this team is I sell when I can before he gets hurt or his play tails off.
If they sign Walker to an extension I think the cat is officially out of the bag….this ain’t no (frank)ing rebuild.

he doesn't have an injury history. Had 1 major injury a few years ago.

already clear this isnt a rebuild. At least to me

Glad to see Zamula in the lineup. With every scratch for Frost it becomes more apparent that Torts simply doesn’t see him as a guy to go forward with.
- landros 2

lets see who is scratched on a consistent basis when RR returns.

Per Tortorella, same lineup as last game. Hart starts. Frost scratched for the 10th time in 20 games (third in a row). Zamula stays in the lineup, Belpedio is scratched.
- bmeltzer

Are any of the beats gonna start grilling him re Frost? And by grill I mean don’t let the arrogant jerk get away with a quick brusque answer. As fans, you know the folks that buy tix and merch and watch the games, we’d like to know why one of the 2 most effective centers on the team is being treated like a plug.

I don’t like this narrative, but it may be best that he get traded later this year. The biggest issue with that is that you’d be trading low. You’ve scratched him and destroyed his confidence so we don’t really have an idea of his true potential. I don’t tend to critique lineups too much but this one just makes zero sense.
- Hextall271

What's to like? It's what Tortorella is doing. He's keeping a player who just started to scratch the surface last season of what he's capable of, off of the ice. Lowering the asset's trade value in the process. Would rather Foerster, Poehling, and Brink over him. Most other NHL teams probably wouldn't have Foerster, Poehling, and Brink in any lineup, let alone simultaneously.

His knee injury was a nasty one…some ACL’s are worse than others. I’m not quite as pessimistic as you on the whole rebuild plan, not saying I won’t get there. But I hope as the market develops for some of these guys they move them….what I don’t want to hear is Torts talking about how he “owes it to the room” to play vets over rookies. I could have told him in September that the rookies would make more mistakes than the vets.
To be fair as long as I see Foerster, Brink and Zamula in the line up most nights to me that’s a start. I also want to see other young guys brought up by DB as the year goes on here and some current guys moved out. I’m all for winning being an important tool to help the young guys develop in that environment buy it has to be with the Young guys driving that bus. If it just the vets leading the way to an another “bubble team” finish then my confidence going forward won’t be there.
So far…for me I’m giving this new trifecta the benefit of the doubt…until it’s crystal clear it’s just more BS.

Edit: oh and Walker did have a significant injury and it was in the past. Thus “injury history”

Only if he stands for it.

What is he gonna do, not play? He will play 4th line as long the coach wants. He can ask to be traded but will still play where the coach wants him to play.

I think a top 6 skater has to endure an injury before Frost gets back in the lineup.

And don’t forget there were rumors over the summer that this 4th line center was subject to a 1st round pick offer (if that rumor was actually accurate).

The triumvirate should’ve planned better for Frost. Sell high or re-sign the man? GMDB gave him a reasonable contract, apparently contemplating that Frost was a valid building block of this supposed rebuild. Yet, he’s essentially been thrown out with the dishwater by a recalcitrant coach. Ain’t no selling high now.

Rumors are rumors and in sports it is the agent putting things out there. There was no concrete evidence of the possible trade was there?

We’ll see. It will then become apparent regardless how Torts wants to spin it that developing the youngsters takes a backseat to winning a few more games.

It was a tongue-in-cheek reply about when it was suggested to move Laughton to the 4th line. Jd250 replied that Laughton would not stand for it.

It certainly does stack up. You don't even understand the point. Which is that Briere as the GM , is not calling the shots and that it is far more likely that the vision of Tortorella and Jones is calling the shots. With Jones set up as an easy mark for Tortorella's manipulation as it has been reported that he agrees with most of how Tortorella sees it.

As far as Frost is concerned. During the Summer, there were no legitimate reports that I saw that stated that Frost was on the market. Or that the Flyers were actively trying to trade him. That was then, this is now. It's clear that no matter how well Frost plays, Tortorella does not like the player. That kind of changes things now versus how it was last Summer. Don't you think?

- MJL

Firstly, this is not a James Bond movie. Your talking about manipulation and factions, I mean come on, get real! Briere is the GM, Torts is the coach. I did not hear anything about Frost being traded this past summer either, which is why what is going on now is bizarre. Why extend the player and sit him? That is why I think there is something we don’t know here. But I agree with you on one thing, Torts just doesn’t like the player. I wonder what his assistants think and what the analytics people think? I think Briere needs to face the media about this also. As a fan of the team I want to know that he and the coach are on the same page.

With Draisaitl and MacDavid now in play according to Ek I now see what Is holding up a Laughton Frost deal…they must be a teams back up plan.

What’s DB going to say? ‘“Frost has to play better when he gets his chance” …not in a million years will DB go against Torts in public.

As someone that is wrong about virtually everything. You have no standing to tell anyone to get real. What we know is that there is a dinosaur of a coach with a history of collossally bad decisions with skilled players. Influencing and seizing control over a franchise. Setting them back who knows how many years.

Of course it's time for Frost to be traded. It should have happened in the off-season. Now, what market does Frost have? How can the Flyers maximize the return on the asset? It's short-sighted to bench Frost, he needs to play and then he will have value at the deadline. The Flyers IMO are not being smart here.
- jd250

There's definitely a market for him. Just questions on the value.

The most realistic swap I see concerning McDavid/Draisaitl is Draisaitl -> Toronto for Nylander + picks and another skater.

why would the oilers want to acquire a free agent to be for leon? That makes zero sense

That other skater would have to be a top defenseman. Which Toronto doesn't have to trade. Draisaitl is a better player than Nylander. How do picks help Edmonton now?
