The asking price for McDavid and Draisaitl just went up after today’s game. Haha. Again, if you are going to suggest Toronto as a trading partner, can you share one single plausible trade scenario? Any desirable player on Toronto has an NMC that they clearly won’t be waiving. Guys like Matthew Knies, Connor Timmins, Joseph Woll don’t even warrant a phone call. Leafs have already traded their 1st next year and all of their 2nds for the next 3 years. And the Oilers aren’t going to want just picks anyway. But I’m happy to hear a plausible idea here. I just don’t think these teams make any sense as trade partners.

Now if the idea was Swayman++, or Hart ++, or involved a cornerstone asset like Seider, Dahlin, etc…then it would at least be plausible.

I could see a move like Power or Dahlin, Savoie and a draft pick for Draisaitl. I would love to see what Connor McAwesome could do on a real team with depth but the return would be so great that it would wipe any team of those assets

There is NO WAY Connor McDavid is getting traded, and there is certainly no way that he gets traded to the Leafs.
I'm a Leaf fan, and would obviously die for that deal....but I'm not delusional.
And, let's be honest....Draisaitl isn't going anywhere, either.

The Oiler get Arizona involved trade their first round and 3/4th to dump Campbell and whoever the Bruins want to dump salary wise.

I keep Leon over McDavid and while I know the "franchise" loses if McDavid goes but I think the team improves dramatically without McDavid and Nurse doing their own thing every couple shifts. I am tired of watch Nurse abandon gap control in favor of being a goalie and McDavid 2 ZIP codes away from his zone coverage since he is wheeling around to gain speed for an offensive zone rush before the puck has entirely left their own defensive zone.

The root problem in Edmonton is those 2 guys marching to the beat of their own drums.

Draisaitl for Carlo and Ullmark. I'm sure Holland can convince them to waive the NTCs for EDM.

Draisaitl is better than McDavid in every facet of the game... except being generational. Obviously speed and overall scoring goes to McDavid but he is certainly the worse two way player/centre/PKer and much harder to play with.

Leon can take any two plugs on his line and improve the team as a clear cut #1 center on ever single nhl team.

The whole Leon is nothing without McDavid thing is the biggest joke in the league. Only fans that have a horse in the who is the second best player in the world race pretend this is true.

If I am picking a player to start a team with its Leon over McDavid 9 times out of ten and I am not even sure who is second but it sure as he'll isn't Matthew's.

Oilers have to be asking themselves right now what they're prepared to do differently. If they can't make a push and show themselves as a credible threat to make the playoffs, then a Draisaitl trade might be the best way to come back competitive next season. I hate to talk about trading players I own expensive jerseys of, but they've been running out the same all offense, shakey back end model for years and if they're prepared to be honest with themselves, they'll acknowledge that it hasn't worked. A trade centered around Draisaitl could let them reballance this team and make them competitive.
