@mjl, you post that you don’t want to keep harping on Frost and yet you keep harping on Frost. The coach doesn’t like him, period. Briere should either force Frost into the lineup or trade him, and do either one immediately. It’s not good for the team or the player to keep this up like this. With only 3 goals in their last two games, it’s a perfect time to get Frost back in there.

I think Frost will be in the line up tonight…even if it’s for Cate’s and his sore face. Ouch.

Yeah. I’d give him a break after that one. Yikes. I also noticed yesterday that cates seemed very slow.

not to mention that the powerplay was 0-6 last night so maybe have someone with some offensive creativity in the lineup to help out. Torts is a joke on this matter. HIs ego has always been first for him not the players.

This is what I don’t understand. We haven’t played well and can’t score so switch it up. Put frost out there to see if he can get the o jump started. We’ve got sorokin again and we need some skill to beat him imo.

Tamer, Ollie, and Samu are really having some great chemistry together. I wish I could see more AHL games

Didn’t see him in bill’s posted lineup so I just assumed he was out.

Torts said yesterday after the game he didn't want to talk about it. I am sure it's simply because Torts did not want to do the interview at all after the loss. But regardless, its a real issue. The Flyers are not winning ozone draws, don't seem to have a real approach even when they do get ozone possession, and don't seem to have any chemistry between the players. This last one is baffling to me since these players have played together for a while, but on the PP they often seem completely discombobulated like they have never played with each other before. Contrast this to a team like the Bruins, where all the players on the PP seem to have clarity in what they are doing and they pass crisply and quickly to get good shots on net. I don't want to keep harping on this (figure of speech of course) but to me the Flyers need to hire a PP specialist coach; they need another voice.

Pretty good tilt on NHL Network right now. Two original six, Bost vs Rags.
Rags up 3-2 after one.

The Flyers need a lot of new things. They need new players. A new head coach, new assistant coaches. A new POHO and possibly a new GM. Not there yet on that one. Most definitely need a new Chairman of Comcast Spectacor from a hockey perspective. The guy who is the architect of this absurd triumvirate approach to the team.

I know the Flyers have faced good teams and some really good goalies, but it seems so far this year after every loss I hear the same thing,"the Flyers just couldn't solve -insert goalie name here-". At some point you have to come to the realization that not every goalie is Patrick Roy. Against the Rangers for example, though Shesterkin is a really good goalie, how many grade A chances did the Flyers have against him? It seems almost all of their shots were from the outside. Naturalstattrick states the Flyers had 23 scoring chances for and against, and 10 high danger chances, but honestly I don't recall seeing Shesterkin make that many big saves. This is where the Flyers are going to lose games against top teams, the Flyers don't have the the elite players that can take advantage of the chances they do generate, while the Rangers only had 7 high danger chances and buried 3 of them with a 4th being taken away for an off-sides.

I mean, look at the heat map from this game, https://www.naturalstattr...eason=20232024&game=20294, its not rocket science to see where teams need to shoot from if they want to beat good goalies like Shesterkin and Hart.

Wow, the new leadership gets less than 1 season from you to turn things around? This has got to be a record, no? Hextall is available, do you think the Flyers should make him POHO?

This should seal it for you in regards to Briere. He was on Snow the Goalie yesterday before the Rangers game. Start listening at the 7:43 minute mark:

I agree. This is going to take awhile. Going to need a few solid drafts in a row to build this club back up. Some shrewd moves and plenty of tough decisions on players. No quick fix, too many bad choices on players and bad management hires.

Intelligent response.

I've see all that I need to see. It is not going to happen with this leadership group unless they get completely lucky and draft a number of elite level players to overcome the incompetence.

Keith Jones, I love him as a guy and a personality. I have no doubts that he is a good guy. However, he is completely unqualified to have the position of POHO. Further complicated by the fact that he is basically attached to the hip of Tortorella and he sees him as the answer. Adding to Tortorella's power in the organization.

Tortorella, need I really post it? He is out of bullets already and he can't do much more. Still thinks the game is about intangibles for lack of better term rather than about skill, speed and talent. Wants the makeup of the team to be a bunch of checkers and grinders with a sprinkling of offensive skill. Rather than the other way around. Couple that with his woeful record of player development. His arrogance and egotism. Along with his ability to manipulate. Makes him the wrong guy.

The assistant coaches are similar coaching dinosaurs.

Briere, don't have a gut feeling on him yet but I know he is outvoted in the triumvirate. Making it difficult for him to instill his vision, even if he has a different vision from Jones and Tortorella. Don't see him winning a power struggle.

Hilferty, hired Jones. Think Tortorella is the spiritual leader of the team. Instituted the asinine triumvirate front office structure.

You watch a team like the Rangers on the PP….they come through the neutral zone with both speed and a plan. They move the puck around with a specific idea of getting the puck to the net…their guys aren’t stationary they move there feet, but they know where guys are going to be. Sure they have talent that maybe the Flyers can’t match, but I’m watching a Flyers PP that looks slow, unimaginative and predictable. I know some laugh and call some the “shoot” crowd…but holy Fukk you have to get the puck to the net when the lane is there and you have a guy there With net front presence. It’s utterly shocking that this is a professional set up for a PP.

If Ristolainen is in, it should be for Staal. Though there could be a RH shot issue there.
