If Keefe doesn't get the boys up for a big third period comeback, yeet him into the fu#^!ng sun. We need a new coach. |

Joe Woll sucks.
That cross on his mask is (frank)ing creepy. “Here’s a dead guy on a stick that I worship.”
The guys a creep.

Feelings in this game so far:
I know some people like Benoit, but I think he is playing more than a guy of his calibre should.
It's past time to break-up Marner & Matthews. I'm not sure that Knies isn't also a bit of a problem on the top line, but Marner is visibly struggling. This, admittedly, is one of his better games of late, but he is still forcing too many plays that aren't there.
Brodie may not be done, but his consistency this year has been so in question, you have to wonder if this is the precipice for him.
The team continues to cheat on plays (that includes the goalies) that are better handled through hard work and getting to the puck. Yes, the puck will work for you, but you need to help it more often than not (this isn't only the play where the breakout winger sits stationary on the boards and waits for the puck being rung around to get them - only to lose it to a pinching defenseman - but that play happens way more than it should; there are other examples of the Leafs not working to get to the puck).

In Woll we trust
Samsosoft
Saros is a small goalie who relies on athleticism. As he ages, that will likely become an issue
Josi we can’t afford
Marner is succubussed

Willy + Matthews, JT + Marner has always worked better.
Keefe incessantly forces Matthews and Marner and we end up having this discussion multiple times a year every year.
Marner will go on a rip and we'll forget right up until its chicken (frank)ed ham again. |

Lines 2-3 have been pretty good last half dozen games. Marner is a boat anchor on line one, hard to get anywhere with him barfing up the puck anytime he gets anywhere near it. - joel878
Matthews has been just as brutal imo, they both look disinterested. Knies has looked the best on that line and thats just (frank)ing sad...

Would be really interesting to see Marner on the 3rd line. It would be a wake up call but also potentially lethal. Either that or take down his PK time, overall he just looks tired and slow. When he's getting beat on all of the little battles I think it shows that he's playing too many minutes.

Bad idea. Why do that while you’re still playing? He must want a bigger Muskoka cottage, so I’m sure he’ll play hard all his career. |

It's possible. Honestly Nylander is on a heater, so you want him to get more ice. If you had Marner on the third it would elevate that line with the puck, but you can't overload on small guys (Domi, Marner, Robertson). A simple Marner/Nylander swap would be the best kick. The thing with Tavares is that Marner knows his role with him and plays it well.
But juggling some things around would be good.
I think the biggest problem is really the most obvious - on defense we have Morgan Rielly. That's it. Ignore that I have been on and off the Trade Rielly bandwagon - right now he's the only back there I have consistent faith in.
I like Gio, but he's slower and best kept to lower calibre competition. I think McCabe is decent, but he's not great at facing top tier competition. But ultimately when you put it all together (even healthy), they aren't tough enough and the lynchpin of our D performance is Brodie and he has been really struggling on and off this year. He's shying away from contact, losing almost every board and net front battle and his foot speed is almost certainly slower than last year judging by his positioning off the rush against.

Nylander is our best player by a mile. Bert and Nies also very noticeable. |
