Lavi and Benny is a god - nyrangers2
Lavi is a fine coach and especially for a few years. The Islanders need a new GM in the worst way and one that understands speed and skill.

Honestly it looks not great even if Frederic was holding his stick but also Frederic is a doofus so if it was going to happen to anyone…. - picklerick
Missed that yesterday. That's going to be reviewed.
$5K fine. Okay. |

On another note....
Will we still be posting trade scenarios for Trouba and CK20??

On one hand, I get the reaction, since at a brief glance it’s a guy slashing another guy in the face. On the other, it takes one or two rewatches at the other angle to see that, while reckless, the stick ended up high because of how Frederic was holding it and let go as trouba went to jar it loose (albeit violently) - picklerick
I never saw it, nor did the broadcast show it. Great weekend for the Blueshirts. This team is probably the most complete they have had in years. Workman like and sticking up for each other. Not a lot of fighting majors for them. Still not sold on jones. He still gets overpowered by bigger players. I’d like to see Robertson at some point. This may be a make or break year for him |

Frederic was holding Trouba’s stick from the first shift in the Bruins corner until Trouba finally had enough and whacked him. That would have never happened had the incompetent officials called him for it once. |

Lou has done squat since his last Stanley Cup. He has drafted poorly, spent salary money foolishly and made some dumb trades. He gave Barzal $9.15 million based on his first year in the league and has never come close to it. He is a $9 million dollar puck hog. He gave a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round draft pick for JP Pageau, who had never scored more tha 40 points for them and has yet to score a goal in 20 games this season. He has stayed with an aging, plodding team that has very little in the prospect pool. The best thing the Isles could do is to turn him loose.

I just don’t agree with the “you can’t do that”, after thinking about it more. Either it’s intentional or not.
How many times a game does someone slash someone else very hard in the legs or back? This isn’t different in any other way than the trajectory of the swing was altered by Frederic and he ended up getting smacked in the face. Penalty? Yes. Fine? I guess you have to. Suspension? I would’ve thought 1-2 games would’ve been acceptable just because you don’t want to have to overthink it in the future. But like… there’s reckless poop every single game that could’ve ended up like this but didn’t.
Can’t have a rational discussion with the “this is worse than bertuzzi + mcsorley + al qaeda” people about this though |

For the Brukman:
May be the last few days to do it, do we trade Kakko and sign Kane for 2.2 million bucks? 😱

I was thinking about that that morning, how does that guy still have a job? I figured they'd have chased him out by now

My point was there’s no conversation to be had with the people saying it’s intentional.
It’s the acknowledging it was not his intent to hit his face and at the same time saying it was reckless. Reckless poop happens every game. Are we going to call out every time a player slashes another on the legs, back, etc?
It’s silly to care about but I’m annoying like that |

It was definitely reckless. I thought it was worth a game suspension. But I’m not upset about it haha

Hes a professional hockey player, accident or not, he knows what hes doing. It was wreckless to swing around with your stick like that. Comparing a hit on the shins, calf, wrist is far more benign than something towards the head.
If he would have got a couple games for that, I would understand. However you got those guys out there calling for 25 game suspensions which is crazy. It was 99.9% accidental as he was trying to get his stick away from Frederic but it was a sloppy play with the twig. |

So you think he was swinging high to begin with, which I don’t necessarily agree with. But at least I could wrap my head around calling that reckless. |

I still don’t think it would’ve been much different than any other intentional slash we see in most games, which are violent and should be penalties, had it not been for Frederic altering the trajectory. But we’ll never know. I personally think that regardless it should’ve just been made a suspension so they don’t look foolish in the future. But we all know the nhl has no shame |
