Completely disagree with this. The double sports hernia had nothing to do with why Patrick's career was derailed.

that wasn't what he said.

Posted last night “it’s obvious Frost is the best puck handler on the team”
- wcorvette

Also the most creative player on the team who plays solidly away from the puck. It is absurd for him not to be playing every game.

The only players eligible for performance bonuses are players on ELC's or players on 35+ contracts.

I do not mind watching a competitive team if it is a watchable product. Play the young kids who tend to be more skillful and faster. What I can't watch is "ageless wonders" grinding it out 5 ft at a time, always chasing the play, all the while looking for someone to beat up....
- mr4tno

Oh I agree…Im fine with competitive …as long as it’s the young guys driving the bus. I know Torts would cringe at this, but that’s what’s rebuild looks like…I could see if they weren’t in a “rebuild” then vets playing over the kids is fine as long as they are out playing the kids….but has Laughton ? Has Atkinson in the last 10 games? Has Staal in his 2 games back? Shown more than the guys getting sat? NO….A RESOUNDING NO.

Torts needs to follow what he says. He says we want to be more aggressive and they are but that is where it stops. He wants to play the kids but it is super selective. He wants them to learn, but that is only for players he likes. Candidly, I would not mind Torts for 2 more years, if he would follow through on what he says.

Is there an agreement with the 3 leaders that they will play vets, so they can move them? Ok, then it is a little more tolerable but the Frost thing and the Nic D thing, has nothing to do with anything I mentioned above.

Ok, Staal and RR in vs a heavy islanders team, in a vacuum that is ok, but with the canes coming up, play a more skilled lineup.

I do think Zamula needed a break, he looked lost, no get him back in and let him apply what he learned

at least the Flyers are better than the Bruins, since the Bs gave up 7 and the Flyers only gave up 3 to the Rags

The Flyers have enough depth in the roster to where they should be doing away with the traditional ice time distribution. Where they could remove the plugs and play 4 balanced lines and give each line enough ice time so that all the young players can one, actually be in the lineup. Secondly get the ice time they need. Depending on which line is playing the best, they can get a little more. Young players need stability and consistent ice time to develop. Not being yo-yoed in and out of lineup. Getting stapled to the bench in one period and then played the next. It's archaic old school nonsense that needs to stop. Coach them through it. If it becomes chronic, then I can see sitting but it's not at that level yet in my opinion.

I don't agree that Zamula looked lost. He has made his share of errors that as a defenseman, stand out. He's a first-year defenseman. Overall, he has played well for the most part and belongs in the lineup. Now Staal and Ristolainen are back. What's that mean for the future lineup decisions for the defense?

I am ok with sitting Zam one or two but then he should get the lions share of the games for sure. I do agree, Torts line rotation can be baffling, should be expected I guess, it mirrors his lineup decisions and favors the players he likes

If the head coach likes what he sees with Staal and Ristolainen. How does Zamula get back in? What's the purpose of sitting Zamula? His play did not indicate he should sit. He's sitting because the coach is not committed to a rebuild. He's committed to winning and he thinks they're both better. Tortorella is coaching for himself. Not for the Flyers future.

Nothing wrong with that decision if they player isn't doing what is asked/required of them. How do you know they are not being coached?

Zamula has not looked lost I agree. Made some mistakes you work through with.

Sanheim - 27
Staal - 36
RR - 28
Walker - 28
Seeler - 30
York - 23 ( in a few months)

Vet D with 3 in their prime baby. 1 entering. That is 4 dman you can build around.....

I don’t believe Torts will play the kids as he should but Zam, the last couple games needed a reset, overall he has been fine but he has struggled more recently. The issue being Torts and not getting Zam back in, we can expect it will be an issue

I don't believe in the miracle value of resets and scratching as a coaching tool. The players learns more value from playing through it then from sitting in my opinion. Not until a players play reaches a chronic level. It hasn't reached that point with Zamula. Now I expect him to be sitting quite a bit.

giving rookies off nights whether it’s rest, struggling, or just getting another guy in is totally fine. If a young player plays 72 games instead of 82, it’s probably more beneficial than just letting a guy figure it out 82 straight. It’s a long season.

such an odd take to not sit a guy here and there. Also odd to think you cant gain anything by watching.

I like hockey. I don't like injuries. I don't like watching bodies accumulate destruction.

So much of the game the last few years is blocking shots. Any way to mitigate the toll it takes?

I believe that the odd game off is completely ineffective in doing anything. A player needs to learn to get through the grind of an NHL season. Only reason to sit a young player when rebuilding is if the player is showing an issue with his confidence, if he is getting into a funk or his mistakes become repetitive and chronic. Possibly a physical issue that is bothering the player. Otherwise, he should play.

As long as Cam is healthy and producing, I think the Flyers can move Atkinson in the off season, just need to cover $1.5-2M of salary. They should be able to get a good return, like a pick and prospect. Contending teams are always looking for a proven veteran that can play special teams and is a good middle six forward.

I thought big Z needed to sit a couple of games and reset
