It's a long story and it's not really the team that I dislike (not hate). It's the obnoxious fans and them thinking the entire universe revolves around the Eagles. It's also the territorial nature of Eagles fans. Throwing crap at opposing fans just cause they have the nerve to wear an opposing jersey to the Linc. We were Flyers season ticket holders for 20 years, and we'd have beers with opposing fans during and after games sometimes. FWIW, I was a huge Eagles fan up until the Buddy Ryan era and the beginning of the Andy Reid era, and then something just snapped! The Birds were just behind the Flyers for me although the Flyers were always #1 here. Went to tons of Phillies games, but no Sixas games. Used to go to college BB games at the Palestra and they were cool!

Again, hate is a strong word. I really don't hate anything in sports. Used to be a huge Eagles fan and went to lots of Phillies games (was never huge into baseball though). I guess it's generally the territorial attitude of Philly sports fans that aggravates me. Us against the world! It just gets old after awhile and eventually it made me become a turncoat. The Flyers are just too deeply entrenched in my blood to turn on them. I'm sure my increased disdain lately is the fact that the other teams are good while the Flyers suck! If the Flyers were good too I would probably be much less venmous. Hell, sometimes I don't even understand it.

I honestly didn't start disliking the Eagles until I started working in south Philly for 12 years. I just got tired of hearing about the friggin Eagles all the time. There was a manager there that always wore Dallas stuff and I never understood why. After working there for quite awhile I realized why he did it. Those people hated that guy, but I thought it was kind of comical. There are other reasons like Eagles fans rooting for the Flyers to lose in the playoffs cause they wanted the Birds to win the next championship. I guess when the Eagles played Minnesota in the NFC championship game in 2018, and I saw them throwing beer cans at women and children dressed in Vikings apparel really turned me off although I was actually happy when they beat the Pats in the SB that year.

I'm absolutely not making that up. It was on WIP back in the 2004 playoffs. The Flyers were tied with Tampa 2-2 in the conference Finals and several Eagles fans called in to Anthony Gargano and said that they wanted the Flyers to lose, so that the Eagles would win the next championship in Philly. The Eagles went to the SB that year( 2005 SB), and lost to the Pats and I was kind of happy. Not made up at all. I've been to many away arenas as well. All cool with the exception of the Rags fans at MSG! They hated us and we had to fight our way out of there after a 4-2 Flyers win. Those fans were brutal and they hated Flyers fans with a passion. This was 1989 and we probably didn't endear ourselves to them when we went in there chanting 1940!!

I agree. I think the days of 4 for 4 have gone by the wayside. There still are plenty I guess, but it's not like it used to be and I think Philly sports radio is the main culprit.
