No they're not.

Guess we can agree to disagree. I think their defense is better than the Eagles (although they recently lost their all pro safety to a season ending injury) and their skill position guys are better with the possible exception of QB. As we've seen over the last 3 weeks when the better teams are playing each other it usually comes down to mistakes.

I'm absolutely not making that up. It was on WIP back in the 2004 playoffs. The Flyers were tied with Tampa 2-2 in the conference Finals and several Eagles fans called in to Anthony Gargano and said that they wanted the Flyers to lose, so that the Eagles would win the next championship in Philly. The Eagles went to the SB that year, and lost to the Pats and I was kind of happy. Not made up at all. I've been to many away arenas as well. All cool with the exception of the Rags fans at MSG! They hated us and we had to fight our way out of there after a 4-2 Flyers win. Those fans were brutal and they hated Flyers fans with a passion. This was 1989 and we probably didn't endear ourselves to them when we went in there chanting 1940!!

Bills stadium is rough…I’ve seen plenty more scraps than any time I’ve been to Philly…although I’ve seen a few there as well. I took my wife’s cousins hubby to an Eagles-Cowboys game in Philly…he’s a big cowboy fan…I had him so scared with my stories he bought an Eagles t shirt and cap ….lol..
I’m not so sure I would travel to an Eagles road game anymore. My last Was 6-7 years ago at Lambeau field. Eagles won but I was pretty subdued…I cheered but tried to be respectful…no problems but not as fun as a Linc victory.

Several Eagles fans called in!

Well there you go. How many hundreds of thousands of Eagles fans are there? Two called in? You can't be serious.

So far I’ll take the Eagles…but the truth is it’s pretty close.

It was more than that over a several day period and I think Anthony Gargano was actually encouraging it even though he acted like he wasn't cause he's always been a total fraud. That sentiment was there and I hated it as a hardcore Flyers fan.

The 49ers receivers are not close to the level of the Eagles receivers.

You're exposing yourself here. As if a whole community of Eagles fans called into WIP to say they wanted the Flyers to lose so the Eagles could be the first to win a title. It's just flat out making poop up. I knew all along that your hatred of Philly teams other than the Flyers was irrational. This just confirms it.

Samuel and Aiyuk ? Kittles as the TE. McCaffery as the RB that can also be a good receiver coming out of the backfield? I don't agree with your sentiment. Green glasses on pretty tight I see.

This is why I don't converse with you. You don't converse with folks and you just hear what you want to, and you're always so quick to judge. Just stop already. Every conversation isn't a contest to see who is right or wrong. It's my friggin opinion doofus. I mean, where did I say the whole community. I heard what I heard and it pissed me off, and I'm entitled to feel that way! Thanks!

Samuel and Aiyuk are not close to being as good as Brown and Smith. Goedert is every bit as good as Kittles. He's not playing Sunday though. Swift and Gainwell can catch the ball out of the backfield. It's closer with Goedert being injured but otherwise. Distinct advantage to the Eagles.

Niners defense is better than the Eagles defense even without their all pro safety. I haven't seen the line yet, but it's probably like -2 which is basically just cause the Eagles are playing at home. There is no distinct advantage to the Eagles, but you do you.

I just saw the line and the Niners are actually a -2.5. So you are showing your homer tendencies. Thanks!

I didn't hear what I want to. You made false and irrational claims. Based your hatred on the Eagles, on Eagles fans supposedly wanting the Flyers to lose. Anyone who has grown up in Philly or lived here for any length of time as a sports fan, knows that is complete horsepoop! You offer a couple of guys called into WIP. That's laughable. You do it to yourself. As I said previously, you can feel whatever way you want. As can I and I believe that your rational is unwarranted, irrational and really just plain silly. The conversation was just to confirm what I already knew. You're welcome.

Yes, I agree, the Niners defense is better. The Eagles defense is very up and down and very inconsistent. I didn't say that there is a distinct advantage to the Eagles. You do you and read something in that isn't there. I said in reply to your post that the Niners aren't the best team in football. The Eagles are 10-1. We'll see Sunday. If the Niners win, then you can make that claim factually.

Well, the oddsmakers apparently agree with me cause I just saw that the Niners are -2.5. Eh what? Even you have to notice that the Eagles are a very lucky 10-1! Okay, you probably won't admit to that, but most would.

First of all, to educate you on odds. Vegas doesn't give odds to predict a winner. They give odds the best they can to encourage betting on equal sides. They don't want betting overloaded on one side. That can cause them to lose a bunch of money. With equal betting, they make a built in profit on the "juice".

Now that we got that out of the way. I would agree that the Eagles have had some good fortune. What it has come down to is making plays with the game on the line. That is what the Eagles do better than any team in the league and why they're 10-1.

What I see the last few games is that other teams defensively, have been doing a lot of blitzing against the Eagles. This is due to the loss of Goedert. The Eagles don't have a threat at TE and they don't have an established 3rd WR. This makes it easier for teams to put in blitz packages. Both teams have very good run defenses. Although the Eagles didn't play the run well the last game. Losing a linebacker and Cox as well as Williams wore out Davis and Carter. I think the team that runs the ball the best could have an edge.

Just to let you know, you're doing the very thing you claim to hate. Discussing football on a hockey site.

To start at the bottom, when is the last time that I complained about someone talking football on here? I might throw shade at Eagles fan on here, but I don't say don't post on here. I didn't even chastise Sillies fans when they were touting the Phillies during their playoff run. I used to do that, but I've backed off since last year. I don't care. I just don't partake or I throw little snarky replies into the mix. I like talkin football and have been betting on it since way before it was legal. We used to have bookies when I worked in south Philly.

Everyone has injuries this time of year. Good teams have to overcome it. I mean, look how many teams have lost their starting QBs and that is very hard to overcome for anyone.

I'm well aware of what the oddsmakers do thank you very much. I also realize that the line will go down or up based on which team is being betted on more. You think we all fell down with the last drop of rain. The fact is based on that line that they have the Eagles as a home dog and you can't spin doctor it any other way.

Don't need to spin the odds. By the way the current spread is -1.5. Not 2.5. Again, what I'll offer to you is that the Eagles are 10-1 and the Niners are 8-3. You've been laughably trying to spin doctor your way out of that all season.

The Eagles have been one of the healthier teams over the last couple of seasons. What are you talking about? Do those green glasses come off at night? Just looked at it...point spread is -2.5 for San Fran and money line is -145 for San Fran. Not sure what you're looking at, but I know who I'm betting on.

Where in that comment did I say "don't post that here"? I'll wait...

Another riveting NFL game tonight. It's 3-3 halfway through the third quarter, but the NFL is a great product. For every game that's like the Bills/Eagles yesterday there are 5 snooze fests just loaded with commercials for your viewing pleasure. That's the fact jack!!
