So from my understanding if they put Kakko on LTIR it will Create cap space today but won’t allow them to accrue any cap space for the deadline which could mess up any deadline deal they want to do. Not the best situation. Why sending down Mackey, calling up Johnny b may be the best short term answer. Will allow Vesey to play 3rd line

The RW depth of:

Wheeler
Laf
Vesey
Goodrow/Brodzinski

Might be the 2nd worst RW depth in the league. Woof that's bad.

It certainly isn't good enough to leave alone. But, to be fair... Laffy has played as well as almost any RW in the league and Vesey has been more than just a 4th line fill in, of late.

He can't/I don't think he should. Bonino is fine, but doesn't drive enough offense.

Laf isn't the problem. Neither is Vesey. But Vesey, can't be counted on to score enough at ES which is needed. (Last night, perfect example.)

but they may put Chytil on RW anyway just to make it easier for him coming back from his injury

I am not a first to say it but if KK goes LTIR - maybe we can swing a deal to bring back fan fav Mr Happy.

Duclair makes the most sense now imo (from outside the org). SJ needs picks and or prospects to get the ball rolling on a rebuild.

That’s boring tho lol

I have been saying that Vesey should move up, he’s really played well. Got robbed on that save of the year too.

- Slimtj100

Boring yes but I want the deadline cap space to make the big move they may need. They have time now to see what they need

I thought I heard they were going to try othmann on RW with the Pack. It’s probably why he’s not the call up since he’s playing LW.

It’s kind of wild to think of because his offensive expectations were so high, but he had actually been playing like an almost perfect 3rd liner. Top 10% defensive forward in the league. That alone is worth his $2.1m contract. The issue is he was expected to fill out the top 6 rw. Luckily wheeler has been almost adequate.

It’s clear we need to trade for someone who can play on Mika’s rw (unless someone like Othmann proves he can, which won’t happen yet). But it was almost as necessary before kakko even got hurt given the lack of production on Mika’s line

which would have been silly, imo. yeah the club has a rw depth issue but it's not a good idea to throw a first year pro into the ahl on his off wing.

maybe that's a next year thing.
