We probably won't find out what happened with Perry until his agent starts shopping him around to different clubs in a week or two. GMs will want to know exactly what happened, and then an assistant GM or staffer will catch wind of the story and leak it to the press. Hopefully, GMs will corroborate the story from Perry's camp with Blackhawk management. Or, maybe all of the GMS interested in Perry will go straight to the Hawks first.

Is Bedard's defense, or lack thereof, a problem?

His last shift ended at 17:08 of the 3rd period, and he never saw the ice the rest of the night. The last 2:52 with a 1 goal lead and the game on the line, his coach decided to keep him on the bench.

- scottak

Bedard was a floater for the first 5-6 games, LR told em don't wait go get the puck yourself, kid ran off 5 good games, now he's back to floating.... Hoped he wasn't a Kaner, a 1 zone player, but he might just be.

LR benched him cuz he wanted the best chance to win the game and that was with Bédard nailed/glued/attached/bolted down/affixed to the bench.

Think it was you where I read the Hawks needed to get back up to the floor after removing Perry. So acquiring Beauvillier is more than just a hockey move?

How they manage the roster/cap is a reason I come to HB. You guys always parse thru the brainiac stuff pretty good....... But man, they need some NHL talent in the top 6... Bedard and Kurashev were AWOL last night. Kurashev reminded us of his inconsistencies last night.

- Mr Ricochet

I read somewhere that Hall was going on LTIR, but they haven't put him on yet so the Hawks are definitely over. I thought if they put Hall on LTIR, the Hawks would have to keep Zaitsev (and send Phillips down) when Tinordi comes back to stay above the floor.

Charlie Roumeliotis: Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jarred Tinordi (oblique) was on the ice for their morning skate.

Ben Pope: Injury updates from Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson.

Defenseman Nikita Zaitsev had a maintenance day.

Tinordi will travel with the team on their road trip and he should get clearance to return soon.

Forward Andreas Athanasiou is hopeful to start skating next week.

There are times where defense is lacking, and it looks like he gets pushed around, but we also see moments like where he grabbed inside position against Hedman to grab a feed from Kurashev and score, or when he stole a puck in the O zone and immediately roofed it.
- 333inthe3rd

What's the common denominator of your two examples? Both times Bedard had a chance to score. Max effort when it's score time, other times not so much....... Hang out and let others win a puck and get it to him.

The hawks handled the situation with Perry exceptionally well. They immediately got the NHLPA involved and got there feedback and expertise on the situation before they did anything. This shows the Hawks have learned from past mistakes to cover something up like the Beach situation. The thing is, the hawks are those in the know are not spilling any information on it, which is necessary. I honestly don't believe the hawks can franky share this information out in the public due to privacy rights. And if those that are in the know, have probably been told they are not allowed to discuss or leak any information. So, this may never be known. My thoughts based on the emotions from Kyle though is someone under age was involved, or he slept with someone under age, or he abused a spouse or child. But again, frankly, I think the hawks handled this manner acceptionally well considering they lost a lot of credibility because of the beach situation. They didn't hide it and sweep it under the rug like with the Beach situation, Kyle got the NHLPA involved immediately and took care of this. I think if this were your employer the company is not legally allowed to share why you were fired. And if they shared then they could get sued for damages and breach of privacy. Too much on professionals personal stuff gets leaked now days and it's not right. This is how an organization should handle internal issues. Keeping everything private whether it is the employer or the employees fault, especially since anyone and everyone can be found on the web and in real life that it puts peoples families in jeapordy and could lead to threats or injuries to a player.

I agree the Hawks got on top of this pretty quickly and “fixed” the issue and most importantly didn’t try to cover it up. I disagree about abuse of children because that would be known, that would be an issue that would be out of the NHLs hands in passed to law enforcement which would be made public at some point. If it were any kind of issue like gambling, drugs or alcohol abuse, the NHL would make it public. So whatever the issue is it, as you say can’t be told. So now people will draw their own conclusions.

"Davidson said the team was first notified of the allegations last week when the Blackhawks were in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday to play the Blue Jackets. Sources told ESPN's Emily Kaplan that Perry indeed traveled with the team to Columbus last Tuesday, a day before the game, and an incident occurred that day involving a team employee. Davidson said Perry, who did not play in the team's 7-3 loss, was "immediately pulled" from the game once the Blackhawks were notified, and at that point, the club began an investigation."

I just read this. I'm not sure if already posted but according to ESPN (a source to Kaplan/Clark), the incident involved a team employee.

Nicely done. I'd imagine someone would probably get paid more in North America for managing an ice rink. The last time I touch an IIHA coaching course, it was run by the head coach for the Perth Thunder (and I had no idea who he was until I came home and looked him up). It isn't really publicised anywhere.

:/ and I've gone since the 80's thinking that was Sammy Maudlin ... this is how I find out. lol -- ok it's early, my sole excuse.

-Switching gears to Wiz's last one above- or maybe a quote from someone else he was replying to - to me that seems plausible, because the wording being used in announcing that had HR all over it. Not really joking, as the way they were phrasing things about confidentiality.

He is 18, gets pushed off the puck (doesn't have man strength yet), and was never asked to do anything but produce points.

I also think LR and the staff are going to leave his defense alone for now, let him concentrate (this year) on what he is wired to do, produce offense. Let the "leadership on the team" coach him on his defensive responsibilities.

However, now 2 of Bedard's "mentors", Hall and Perry are gone, it is left up to the remaining boat anchor Foligno.

Since Perry is now gone, I am retiring the boa tanchor monicker on Foligno. Only reason I included both because at the time the Hawks acquired Perry for leadership, (and just to get to the cap floor) is that KD used the leadership excuse for the Perry and Foligno signing because KD had no interest in starting to improve the team, which I (I know am way in the minority in here) think it is a mistake.

Look at what the Hawks have next year. KD has to start almost completely from scratch again next year Is Bedard really going to take over as captain at 19 yo? Oldest players as far as term will be Jones and Murphy.

If they draft Celebrini or Eiserman are they with the big club next year? Who rounds out the top 6 ? Can Hall play anywhere near before his reconstructed knee, and can he last 20 games before being injured? Unless Reichel takes a big leap in the next 60 games, and Kurashev proves he can be consistent, they will not be the answer for next year. Going to play a second line of AA, Raddish, and Rechel again this year? katchook, Entwhistle, Anderson/Johnson as your third line?

Or will KD instead of giving bloated one year contracts to over the hill veteran's to get to the cap floor again next year, or commit to a FA, or a trade for an established player with some term to at least have a base of consistency.

Domi signs one year in Toronto for $5 mil.. Think he would of signed 2 X 4 or 3 x 4 with the Hawks, instead of giving that $4 mil. to Perry? Would committing to Domi for 2 or 3 years really hurt the rebuild? What was really a better fit, having Perry as a 4th liner, guy wh oon the PP is good at sticking his ass in the goalies face, or Domi that could play top 6 at either center or left wing?

And looking in 2 years hence you have as forwards Bedard?, and 2 more top 5 draft choice forwards, and what, starting with 9 other new forwards? KD must think he is the best drafter or evaluator of talent since Sam Pollack, because all I see is a strip down each season 1 or 2 draftees hopefully making the team each year, which means he might have a bubble team in 8+ years, if everything goes according to the "book on rebuilds", that KD must have written cause I have not seen any other NHL GM do it this way (successfully).

End of rant for today, maybe!!

I knew who you meant. Was just a way to crowbar in a Bobby Bittman Gif.

To SC116...The Sammy Maudlin show was fantastic. Joe Flaherty was great on SCTV but probably the guy that got the least amount of notoriety after.

It was pointed out to me recently that whenever they went to The Sammy Maudlin Show on SCTV, it was always "already in progress".

This is interesting. I don't know how credible ex-tough guy Georges Laraque is but he said on the podcast:

"“I know what happened,” the ex-Canadiens winger told Marinaro before warning him that he can’t disclose much. “I don’t want to get sued, and this is a privacy matter.”

Watching his words, Laraque then took the chance to dispel a nasty rumour regarding one of Perry’s teammates that had been circling around social media.

“It had nothing to do with [Connor] Bedard and his mom,” he continued.

According to the 46-year-old, the Blackhawks reacted in an appropriate manner.

“I understand why the Blackhawks had to do this,” he explained. “Any team in the NHL would’ve done the same.”

Laraque concluded by revealing that plenty of people around the league, including insiders, are also aware of what occurred but cannot comment on it just yet.

“A lot of insiders know exactly what happened. They’re not going to say anything because there’s a process to this.”"

If so many people know about the situation it’s only a matter of time before it gets out. Somebody will feel the need to be the guy who has to let everyone know he knows the story. We have a guy on this site who can’t control himself, there are lots of people out there who are the same. And if Laraque is correct, I very happy to hear it’s not about Bedard.

You can be sure that as soon as management learned of the incident and knew they had to do something with Perry they went straight to team lawyers and NHL head office for directions. And thats when everybody in the organization's lips got glued shut tight. Bad publicity and potential lawsuits to be avoided at all costs. Standard practice.

Before the internet and cell phone cameras, quite a few very prominent NHL players got into trouble. We can all name some of them. But back then teams and the league did the coverup routine. Worst thing that happened was the player got traded out of town.
