Initial not enough on Van's side but Carolina is still very much a contender. They would have to really fall hard or Pesce to say he wants out.

I see it 2 ways…

Canes do want to keep & sign Pesce. They are playing hard ball as they won’t over spend on players something I say when it comes to Petey. Keep the cap under control for long term success.

2nd he’s going to be a UFA & wants to get paid. Rumour is 7m or more & term. I don’t see Canes giving him both it’s not how they run.

Summary:
If he does get moved it’ll cost but they might move him out west & idk if he wants that & will resign. So a potential rental keeps cost down. Comes down to if he sees the Canucks on the rise & a good fit. That is a huge question.

I like his demeanor & maturity. He’s not a me guy & willing to hone his game. Has the confidence needed & over time his game will only improve. Skating & mobility & IQ is the top qualities for top 4 D.

As for Hutson getting featured idc he’s overrated & BU is loaded on D. Celebrini is in a good place out of the limelight & develop on his own pace. Was a smooth late pick.

As for the 1st not in play that is posturing & too premature at this juncture. Too early in the season & nobody available worth considering it yet. It’s not in stone though.

I peg Pesce at a Kuz/1st/3rd
Tanev a 2nd not a Flames fit though.
JVR is ok for depth cost us scoring help for the Capitals.

Pretty much leaves it to more grinding the phones & let time work itself out to when opportunity comes around. No rush to force a trade being it’ll be a pivotal deal.

Pesce comes down to his contract ask. Canes want to keep him but only at their price is my feel.

I would ask NYR if they would be interested in a swap for Scneider for Kuzmenko? If not him I would target some other team with a RHD who is in the 23 yr old range that is playing in the NHL or close. Drysdale is another name maybe Kuz and a first.

I think Willander has a 50/50 chance of making the team next year or early the following year.

For this year I would do a second round pick for Zadarov. They just need to get by this year. IMO.

Maybe for a college team they have a strong D but Webber, McCarthy x2, Gallagher aren't good players, no real NHL potential there. Hutson and Willander are far better. Hutson isn't Hughes as Cdn's fans want to suggest, more like Samuel Girard imo. I've watched 7 BU games so far this year.

We have all seen the evolution of Tage Thompson. It wasn't all that pretty at times. Everybody is going to look for that in every tall guy but lots are just the same size and nothing like Thompson. I think Alriksson has the same hockey sense that Thompson does on the offensive side of the game.

I don’t see the Rags looking to move him. Same goes for Drysdsle.

On Willander I see him 1 more year at BU. To forego his eligibility he’d have to decide he has nothing more to gain & is ready for the show. Never know cuz PA keeps in touch & no clue what his plans are.

A 2nd for Z isn’t horrible but depends on if resigned & has to be team friendly. Cole might be back.
