Similar, yes, but I view dirty as a level beyond dangerous. Hitting somewhat from behind, even with just a half-step forward, is dangerous, taking a run from two strides away and doing so is dirty
- airjan23

I view dirty as intentional. Dangerous/reckless could be the exact same type of play as an intentional one, just not with intent to injure. Very few of these plays that we see are truly “dirty” and there are few “dirty” players. Wilson had been previously, same with Marchand, Kadri, etc. Matt Cooke was always dirty. Corey Perry is another that had been out there looking to hurt people.

TJ, I get your view and could see the move happening. That would mean moving Wheeler back to the third line and Brodzinski to the fourth. But they may be waiting for Chytil to return before they swap line combinations, as part of the decision making process may depend on where he slots in
- airjan23

He deserves the opportunity is my point. Hockey players thrive on that sorta thing

I wish I knew what games you guys are watching sometimes

It’s my idea, therefore it’s a bad one. I get it

I want Gerard Gallant tarred and feathered for not putting Laf in the top 6 earlier.

It’s a shame PP1 is locked down. He could be a legit PPG player if he was out there with Fox and Panarin. Trocheck winning draws is important, but Zib is no shmuck either. We’ll see what happens.

PP2 is much better than last year, but will probably still only contribute 50% or less of what PP1 does based on ice time and a few missing pieces.

My actual thoughts are as such:

The only 2 lines generating consistent 5v5 anything are Panarins line and the 4th line.

As of late, mika/kreider/wheeler have started showing some signs

Therefore, keep them the same for now, with the hope you can get someone better than wheeler at some point. Unless we start losing

Absolutely not.

You do this all the time, you ramp yourself up and stay there. Vessey didnt morph into a first line player, at the age of 30 he is at best a third line player. He is just having a good stretch. Enjoy his play.

No I dont think Wheeler is, My money was on KK. Im still not giving up on him. Im am for splitting up Mika and CK20 though, they just arent producing 5v5

- Brukie

if you listen to Laviolette you know he is all about scoring chances, and they always get a bunch of them, 5 on 5

there isn't any reason to split Mika and Kreider up, we are 16-4-1 and they want to play together

I didn't say it was a bad one, just gave you my reasons why I would not make the move now. But I understand the rationale and it's sound. Just like the fact we have a fourth line rolling and we could see a change when Chytil returns.

I just read the Red Wings blog/comments. I like how they highlighted noted dirty player, Artemi Panarin.

That line will be better when they aren't forced to drag around the corpse of Blake Wheeler.

I feel like Kreider should have 20 goals now

it would be different if they weren't getting chances, Kreider hasn't had a lot of puck luck of late

After the Boston game, for sure. He could have had a hat trick last night.

Jan, what’s more important..a better first line or a better 4th line? Cmon that’s ridiculous

The first line continues to struggle getting 5 on 5 offense

- Slimtj100

Mika has 5 even strength points in the last 5 games. Where is the struggle???

No doubt. An upgrade is much needed there. It's fine for now because we are winning, but it needs to be addressed sooner than later. I would keep Zib and Kreider together though. I think the chemistry between the two is palpable and they compliment each other well

Gutsy win last night. Good teams come out of those games with 2 pts and thats exactly what we did. Miller with a great stretch of games here. Love seeing him develop and I know he makes some bone headed plays from time to time, but I think he is going to be a force in this league for years to come.

The good times are rolling boys! I didn't get a chance to read the Wings blog yet. Is is that bad lol?

I’m talking right now. Without making a trade. Two guys, pick one, Wheeler or Vesey for line 1. It’s the no brainer decision of the century

It’s about deserving something and Jimmy DESERVES the opportunity up there

I will say this Jan, arent we talking symantics when saying a hit is dirty vs dangerous? Isnt a dangerous hit inherently a dirty hit?

A few pages behind here, but...

I consider the difference to be the fact that Cullye could have stay on his original line and taken Ghost squarely in the back. He didn't and altered course enough to catch him more on the shoulder (and yes, also the back), but let's remember also that Ghost was rotating around toward facing Cullye as he approached, but then stopped short of where the hit would be from the side. I had no problem with it being called a penalty, but didn't think it was a major. It's a hockey play gone wrong, not an intent to injure.

While I think an upgrade is needed, I don't think Vesey is the better option over Wheeler. Wheeler has been serviceable to an extent. He has some decent vision and can get pucks to players who get open. Vesey is just having a good stretch of games, but at the end of the day he is a bottom 6 guy. Wheeler has spent his entire career in a top 6 role and knows how to play with premier talent. IMO, it's Wheeler's spot until we make a trade or Kakko comes back and proves he can confidently take that spot (not holding my breath on that happening)

Tell me why he shouldn’t? He currently sits 4th on the team in 5 on 5 goals. Wheeler is an anchor, Vesey is the epitome of effort. Let’s waste him away on the 4th line playing 10 minutes a game

Brilliance!

Maybe he isn’t anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️I know Wheeler is miscast tho. Maybe Jimmy has found something. Maybe Jimmy is a new man
