This is what I’ve learned about Kane (from “fans”) His production is completely irrelevant, he has a bad hip and he can’t play defense. Never mind the extra two goals a game you can get from him, it just doesn’t matter

As far as Kane goes... nobody in Detroit is expecting him to be the Kane that played in Chicago. Heck if he can put up the same numbers he did in New York I'd be fine. But I do like the fact he chose Detroit and wanted to play there instead of other teams. He did not have a shortage of suitors that wanted him. Even Yzerman just said yes it was a bit of a gamble... but he thought it was worth the risk. Given Kane's hockey IQ and playmaking ability you could certainly make that argument. I'm just glad it's a one year "show me" contract which I consider pretty low risk since the Wings didn't give up any assets and have the cap space.
