I’m not absolving Adams of blame, but to say the coaching isn’t the compounding issue is false.
Vancouver going to Rick Tocchet breathed life in the team.
Pittsburgh won 2 cups with interim coaches.
Different sport, but watch 5 minutes of Broncos football this year in comparison to last year and they look like they are playing a different sport.
Had Botterill hired anyone other than Kreuger, he might still be here.
Look at the Rangers this year after going to Lavy. Night and day difference - Swedish_Jesus
All great points. I agree a coaching change is desirable, I don’t absolve the players though. The youth excuse died last year, but they continue to come out flat. I don’t understand that, it’s as if they don’t care, IMO. |

I’ve said my piece on Clifton.
E Johnson was inexcusable.
They were in on Pesce and Kane and missed on both. There is an acknowledgement that they need to improve from the outside.
If the coaching stops killing them in the meantime though it would be nice. - Swedish_Jesus
Fwiw I liked the Clifton move just fine as well. It just wasn't the top-4 move they needed. And trying really hard but not landing an actual top-4 dman shouldn't be an excuse.
Kane is whatever. He would have sold tickets on a Tuesday night but it wouldn't have helped them a ton imo |

Clifton isn't good. Had a decent season with regressing minutes on the best team in NHL regular season history. Then puked on himself in the playoffs. Thats it
Add chicken man to the list of players he was 'in on' and whoever else might be on that list isn't here. He either isn't serious or can't get it done.
I cant understand how anyone would feel confident with adams going into this offseason |

They've 'attempted' to make several moves, supposedly.
Big failing of a GM to not actually make the moves.
No points for trying. There are only points for accomplishments.

It's professional sports.
No credit is given for what almost happens.

His drafting looks to be a strong point although its really still TBD
I wouldn't mind if he stayed in the organization with some say in the draft process but I want him nowhere near roster construction moving forward |

Clifton over a 3 year sample size racked up roughly 9 WAR.
Perhaps most of it came last year ? But there were several Bruins fans and media personalities that liked the move for Buffalo and nothing in the numbers to me suggests to me he’s as bad as advertised this year being stapled to Johnson and playing his off hand too on top of that.
Casey mittelstadt pre-breakout last year had 3 points in a calendar month span being stapled to Olofsson, now we are wondering how much money he’s going to get.

From now on, all Sabres coaches should only get 1 year deals. If they don’t take the team to the playoffs in year one, they’re fired |

And they ought to be real careful continuing to resign players to a team that hasn't proven they can win anything. I like mittelstadt but if they resign him they better be ready to trade an important roster player or two. The team makeup isn't good enough
There is nothing that suggests adams is the man for that job |

Yeap we will continue to see the poor roster decisions failing together
Adams and granato have really been a great 1-2 punch in this respect |

Granato makes sure they are put in position to continue sucking |

There’s gotta be hand shake deals where they can’t be benched. At least with EJ |

Nah, too easy, make 'em live on the streets in SF for a month. |
