Granato strikes me as a guy that just loves to coach. When/if he's removed, he's going elsewhere, be it as an assistant at the NHL level, or an AHL coach. A director position seems like a demotion to me.

Could be, or they don't have the right Coaching or Leadership to lead them into the next stage of there development as a team. They have a very inexperienced Coaching staff, just don't look like they have answers to their problems.
