And they’re all tried, proven, busts.
You guys for some reason think it’ll make any difference tinkering around the edges, when what they really need is to make a massive splash on defence. Get a superstar d man. Why not? I’d rather have Makar over anyone not named McDavid at this time. That’s what they need. Since Dubas is an idiot the Leafs haven’t tried to grab a Dman in the draft. Ghule and Scheider left on the board 🤢

Arden on the latest ATL suggesting that the Blue Jays player development complex could give them a bit of a competitive advantage during the recruitment process given Ohtani's obsession with health & fitness
Not sure who Arden is but sweet.
The best part about these tweets are the big market USA teams fans tweeting back at them saying it will never happen.
If Ohtani signs here I’m going to spend a good 22 mins reading Yankee/dodger/Redsocks fans heads exploding.
It would be like CGY fans and a lot of Canadian fanbases reacting to Gaudreau going to CBJ but 100X better. |

Do we like Hanifin enough to lose Minten, ++ and commit to $7.5 x 8 to another LHD?
I'm not sure he's that good? - The Law
Not sure that fit and price make sense. He’d make the 2nd pairing better.

Yeah, Hollowell signed with the Rangers, Mete went to the Flyers, and Benn is unofficially retired.
I don't know why they recalled Lajoie. He played 1 game under Keefe and Keefe had so much faith him in him that he played less than 5 minutes - against Buffalo. Under contract right now - and available with the Marlies - we're drawing from:
Benoit
Lagesson
Lajoie
Niemela
Kokkonen
Villeneueve
Rifai
That's the depth after the original top-7 - so with Klingberg likely gone for the year, one of those guys is now the 7D - and with Gio gone for probably a few weeks, one of those guys is the 6D, and with Liljegren out for at least another week if not two, one of those guys is the 5D, another is the 6D, and another is the 7D.
It looks crappy but in honesty not many teams are going to take the 8-10 depth D spots, move them up to the 4-6 spots and look fabulous doing it. |

Jeez. you are not getting a Makar type dman via a trade PERIOD. You need to draft one like Scheider but it did not happen. |

It all adds to the pie.
If he chooses the Jays it’s chance to win, money and mayhe most importantly to have his brand in Canada.
Kikuchi maybe helps a bit.
There was someone legit who said a while ago that Ohtani is impressed with Jays player development. |

What are you trading to get Makar? Why would anyone who has one of these guys give them up? There are maybe 5 #1 defensemen in the entire league. There are probably 20 top-tier 1st ling wingers. Nylander is exceptionally talented but you're dealing from a diluted pool and trying to pry someone out of a very shallow pool. There's no value proposition there. At all.
The teams that have these #1 guys have no interest in trading them. Heiskanen, Makar, Fox . . . the other elite guys - Josi, Hedman, Doughty are all 33.
A team on the downswing doesn't want a winger in his prime - they want prospects.
A team on the upswing wants a winger in their prime, but they aren't dealing away a young stud defenseman for him.
A team contending wants a winger in their prime, but they aren't trading off of their contending roster to get one.
Those are facts. |

Just had to drop $130 for a new truck battery. Over the last couple of days I could tell the battery was getting weaker. It was manufactured in 2018, so five years is pretty good down here. Florida heat is murder on vehicle batteries.
This kind of poop always happens around Xmas though. Xmas is already one big extra expense, but it seems like some kind of unexpected bill will rear it's ugly head during the holidays. Last year it was vet bills.
If the extra phuckery is limited to $130, I will have gotten off light this year. Last year cost us thousands.

I do not get the obsession with Schneider. He's large and he hits people. He is out of position, slower and still struggles with decisions. He adds borderline value by most value-add metrics. He's good at the things he does but he struggles at overall defense. He is just 22 so he could absolutely bloom into a superstar but so far he's more Luke Schenn than Chris Pronger. Schneider, for the record, is looking better this year - but he's still -3 at 5v5 on a team that's 16-4-1 (albeit this is largely from the success of their special teams).
Guhle has been pretty good this year. I'd like to crap all over him, but he has arguably been Montreal's most valuable player to date.

Could they sign Yamamoto too? Trade a pitcher.
Toronto would be Canadas and Japans team at that point with the 3 of them.
Bring in Kawasaki to be Jay the mascot and we are set. |
