I'm not against the idea of trading Montembeault if the return makes sense.
But god dammit he's playing well, kinda wish he'd be the one that sticks around.
There's also the rumours of him asking for over 4M per season, if that's the case he might price himself out of here. |

Oh and Newhook looks like another great move by Hughes!
Imagine this team with a healthy Dach next season, the future looks very promising. |

I expect Hughes to work something out with Montembault unless he ask for too much term and-or money.
Montembault has more value to mtl than his market value. Primeau might be ready to be a starter one day but hes not that now and wont be for a while.
If they cant trade Allen, send him to Laval
done
if this goes on, dont be surprise if Montembault ask for a trade
fans will be able to blame him after
whatever |

Depends on what the total is.
If he’s looking for around 20, give him 3.5 for 6.
At worst he be an over paid back up.
He has more value to the habs than just about anyone right now.
It wouldn’t be the worst contract they have.. |

that would be even less than what Allen signed for last season
I would expect something between 4 or 4.5M per for 3 or 4 years
If they think he is their starter for a few seasons, that should not be a huge problem |

Why would he sign 3 years when at his "prime"? |

We can sign Henry Kissinger for free and plop his fat dead ass in the blue paint. |

Take it with a grain of salt.
But I've heard from someone who's relatively close to Montembeault that his agent is looking for a number that starts with a 4 for at least 4 years.
The Korpisalo contract kinda gives them that argument. Someone would probably give him that much.
I'm just not sure if the Habs are willing to give him that money considering they still have Allen and Primeau looked "ok".

I would give him 4.3 /4.5 for 3 years. This would coincide with the rebuild timeframe. If he proves that he is starter, well you will have to pay his true value in three years. If not, 3 years during rebuild is not the end of the world. I have always liked Monty, but this year he has a “Light load” of goaltending sharing games with two other goalies. A starter should be able to give 50 games and some back to back. We haven’t yet seen that of him…….and if it was up to me, Allen would be gone and the two kids would be splitting the games. We have nothing to loose, we are in rebuild, let’s see if one of the kids is part of the future.

thats pretty much what I said and it would be a fair contract
the Allen contract was the mistake not the Montembault demands being out of place |

Yeah he's doing fine. So is Struble.
Wouldn't dare raise their minutes too much but they're not putting us in trouble.

Arber hurt his shoulder and there are no information on his return as far as I know.
Savard was said to be injured 6-8 weeks if I remember correctly so he's still on his timetable no? |

next year
No Pearson 3.2
No Wideman 750k
no half retain on eddy 1.75
Get Allen out, there no real issue to give a good contract to Montembeau ? |
