Leads by example, skates with them,
they all know of his intense training regimen. Teaching the kids fundamentals and being a calming influence. I think these are all great attributes for a budding hockey team.

I live in the same city as Perry, London Ontario. Which, is nowhere near “outside Toronto”.
I have friends that spend time with him when he’s down here and I know Perry from his days with the London Knights. (OHL team)

Dude has ALWAYS been a booze bag. He gets so maggoty when he’s here that he will take guys back to his pad and play ball hockey in his kitchen, absolutely destroy it, and then call people in the next day to repair.

- GreenMonster

So you’re saying London is in the GTA? Yes Chief, London is outside Toronto, just like Peterborough, Newcastle and Kingston are outside Toronto.

I didn’t question Perry’s problems with alcohol. I said he owned up to the issue that got him released from the Blackhawks.

Don’t you have better things to do than trolling a team that’s won more championships this century than yours has in almost 60 years? Go back to your board and dream of that Stanley cup parade you draw up every autumn, you know the one the Raptors used for their win.

They have had a few entertaining and surprising wins for sure. When you watch the team do you consider them "well coached" in any aspect of the game?
Last weekend was a perfect example. Against the Leafs, who I consider to be very poorly coached, way to wide open an incapable of holding leads, the Hawks stormed back and got a huge win. Then against the Blues, who I think are very well coached, the Hawks never got an odd man break or any 2nd chances. Blues, a middle of road team, snuffed the Hawks out.

Hawks are 31st out of 32.
Coaches have last change at home. The Hawks have the least amount of points at home in the league.
Coaches get to design power plays and penalty kills. Hawks are 30th in PP and 21st in PK. They have 7 power play goals and 4 short handed against.
Hawks have scored first in 8 or 21. Teams that score first win 68%.

Last season, in a tank, through 21 games they had 16 points. Right now they have 14.

Many thought the Hawks "played hard" last season. With a couple of exceptions, they seems to be standing around a lot this season. They are not physical in front of their net. They don't tie up sticks. Don't need first half of first round talent to do that.

No question the roster lacks talent, but it seems they are opening it up too much. Even Q, in the glory days, had lines that played a 1-2-2 against top lines. Not seeing it. Worse, through roster construction and also coaching, the Hawks don't do much to change the momentum in game. My New Season Resolution was to stop blaming the coach. It is hard.

- stevefrmglencoe

Last year the Hawks had better players then this year.

It’s too early to blame the coach when there is little talent on the club and they’re breaking four rookies.

Nobody knows if rushing Korchinski is going to ruin him.
Great skater and some offensive flair for sure.
Why is he here now?
The Hawks could have orchestrated a junior trade to middle of the road team so he would have had to work on his d zone play instead of always having the puck in Seattle.
He could have played World Juniors, a few games in Rockford and developed.
This would have pushed his next contract back a year. Good cap management.
He could have started next season in Rockford where they play games on the weekends so they can practice a lot during the week and develop.
Would have given him time to develop his game, get stronger and be hungrier for the charters, hotels and women.
NHL teams barely practice. And during the few practices I have watched this season are mostly flow drills and power play. Richardson stands in the corner.
This is not a development league as we can see nightly.

- stevefrmglencoe

The reasons you mention are why I believe it was a mistake to promote Korchinski to the NHL. But he’s here now, hopefully Dean can work with him to realize his potential.

Yeah totally. Kane, Toews, Domi, McCabe, AA and Lafferty are upgrades over the guys who aren't even playing that were to replace some of that- Hall, Perry and AA, and the two that are Donato and Foligno.

I know he can't be in Rockford yet, but do you think he would dominate that league? Korchinski is a very talented prospect but he is not yet a solid defensive player. This is not the place to learn those skills. Even Duncan Keith, who I consider a Hall of Fame type player, needed to learn these things away from the NHL. Keith spent 2 full seasons in Norfolk with Yawney coaching him hard.
- stevefrmglencoe

There isn't anyone to challenge him appropriately at that level.

Keith had a super weird career path and even with his time in the magical AHL he still needed 2 years to figure out the NHL. By his third you were like yup he could be a special player and by his 4th he was dominating games. It's not like he came into the league and it was like wow this guy is going to be the best defender to wear a Blackhawks sweater. He was kind of manic the way he skated around.

It's gonna take time no matter what. Better him take his NHL lumps now so that he can contribute sooner than spend another year skating circles around guys who can't challenge him at all.

I think i just saw Dougie Hamilton out indefinitely?

Ouch torn pec

Hmmm it'll be interesting to see how they do with Nemec and Hughes playing the blue line. 19 and 20 years old.

Just checking on a certain prospect

Why it is Allen currently in Rockford

- jhawk59

Hw many answers you want Jim-bo?
a) he is not ready.
b) we gotz lots of youngsters learning here, and after the current back-steps we have seen in Kaiser and KK, how many depressed youngsters you want them to prop up?
c) ---I open the floor to my distinguished colleagues:

Tell you what I just watched Simon Nemec and I am ready to give our pick to Jersey for him.
He is what is called "ready for prime time."

He was called up from then AHL (where he as a foreigner (joke) is allowed to play at a young age because Hamilton was injured. . It worked - he is ready.

I think he played 6 more seconds than any other rookie defender Hughes, and more than all the rest
When the Devils were trying to catch up (they were horrible as a team defensively...), they even had them out there together as offensive men.

He played regularly as the one dee-man on many of the PPs...Luke was 2.33 and Nemec was 1.25.
I spent the time watching and wondering when was the last defenseman I watched who wore #17...

Don't sweat the small stuff with the Rockford kids Allen + Del Mastro.
If & when they prove NHL worthy, ready for shots, they will bet them.
A logjam is a good thing because then you trade for need.
If neither can play the off side defense, they will have to excel and be better than the kids we have seen forced to play there, Isaak Phillips and Kaiser (earlier on).

The entire Devils team will have to learn to play dee besides run and gun.

Until, they will be exciting to watch but easy to score on...

For sure the Devils are definitely fun to watch, lots of offence. Except guys like Lindy Ruff, Travis Green and the GM aren't finding it that much fun.. 12th place in EC only 1 point ahead of Buffalo and Montreal; GF/GA is at -4. Goaltending is weak and with Dougie Hamilton out they are really going to miss Damon Severson even more.Going to be a struggle for them in that Division.

This team was goin to be bad this year everyone knew.. if you didn’t know, you weren’t listening
Not many knew it would be this bad tho

Who cares tho this year. Deal with it or look elsewhere for the next year or so.

The year they drafted Toews, last place in the central, 31–42–9 record. Most top players during the cup years were in the system or being acquired

Maybe we wait a little bit before freaking out?
Or just keep female dogin and have fun. Hossa said it, you need multiple premium players for sustained cup runs. That’s a major goal now is acquiring those players for long term.

It takes sacrifice for victory. Not every franchise is gifted favorable terms like a new franchise in Vegas. Vegas is NOT a typical norm for existing franchises.

...or the Blue Jays ...

I see what you did with that, though ... you deftly also included the possibility of going over and not even allow trolling of the Vegas board (no idea if they have one) ... or the Cane's board ... or the St Louis board, or the Anaheim board, or the Dallas board, or hell -even the Rangers board (which has to hurt), or ... well, I guess there is still the Canucks board - so there is that (poor Vancouver).

Yeh well hopefully the team has invested in a sports psychologist, as it can be a bit concerning if some of these super young guys start turning this frustration inward. Especially 98- as he has been visibly frustrated at times, and sometimes it seems like he is -at himself, and sometimes in situations that are probably not nearly entirely his fault.

I mean I have no idea why you'd use him on the point on PP at this stage of his career- possibly because no one else is able to do it - still, that is a golden ticket to giving up short handed breakaways that, in Chicago's situation are ending up in the back of the net with the red light flashing.

There has to be someone out there that is generic, and will not really be great at that, that can at least cover the basics... even just a pylon able to get the puck and fire it into the corner. I dunno, I think you have to keep things especially simple at this stage.

KFC needs to revisit his plan, as he has to look after his asset, and not keep entirely going down the draft choice assets collection route, as that will have a regressive impact on his primary asset (that lottery win should have changed that outlook, and the plan - he seems to still have been operating on his longer term plan as if he did not win 98 last off-season.

Sure- they brought in some vets, and overpaid them. But there isn't any depth, to 71, 94, and 17 -bearing in mind that 17's the last guy standing there (love Foligno - but he's only a single guy on a team and can't do it all).

Interesting what Kaner said - look, to be honest, I think he had a point. No clue what he would have said, and I do get the idea about building your own identity - and all of that ... but, I mean on this trajectory - what, actual, identity are you having built? Don't know. If it were me - this off-season, despite what I have written in the past - I'm on the phone to Toews and Kane - recognising there is a problem on the ice with Kane and Jones (or a potential one). Jones doesn't do much for me, I can't see anyone taking him, but frankly he's proven nothing in Chicago, and isn't likely to. Essentially, he's Stanbo's fantasy acquisition that was somehow going to get them into the playoffs. Nothing more -sure nothing less, too, but nothing more.

Wow, tough sledding here.

Guess its going to be that way for the next couple years.

I too am disappointed, even though they told me it would be a multi year plan and rebuild, I thought they were lying and young defenseman at 19 would be up and playing like Bobby Orr and Duncan Keith within a week.

I thought they would use all the cap space this past summer for multi year contracts for bad players.

I guess I just can't understand the angst, but to each his or her own.

Tough read every day.

Some here pointed out that JC was not the reason his teams didn't win. While I think the same is true of Luke, I think he's a far better developmental coach than JC. Isn't that what is needed now?

That they did, and for that the new GM says we don't need you or want you around. You are toxic. Better that Foligno, Murphy, and Perry do all the leading.
- LAHawk

When the Perry thing just happened every writer mentioned The Jenner Report and most in print LINKED to that story. ....... If Kane and Toews were here you think the miserables would not mention either were around during The Dark Times?

You think with what we've seen in the blowing the hell up of the Perry story that maybe Danny Boy and the Biz Lady told KD we don't want anyone on this team, let Kane and Toews' contract run out and we wash our hands of anything to do with The Dark Times?

Maybe, you don't know and I don't know but it's feasible, KD had no say in resigning the twin cup winners?

And Perry, that you wanna tie around KD's neck and throw him overboard. Let me ask you this, LA. Perry's played what 18 yrs, have we heard about drunken or bad behavior outa him off the ice? I haven't. EIGHTEEN yrs man, nuttin, now the dude gets drunk and runs his mouth or tells an employee you look hot in that dress and that's KD's fault???

And IMO you are dead wrong then, now and tomorrow about The Boat Anchors. You're citing Foligno's pt pace as he blows but Perry was 2nd, SECOND, on this team in pts but he sucks? ..... Which way you gonna play that, how do you square that, LA?? Foligno blows cuz he has 1 pt in 44 games and Perry blows cuz he 2nd on the team in pts?

You see The Boat Anchors, Foligno and Perry, fight this yr, protecting the Golden Child and the feeble ones on the roster. Let the league know sure, go after the Golden Child but we're coming for you afterwards. Would, COULD, Kane and Toews do that???? Have you seen anyone take liberties with the wiz kid yet? Coincidence, LA?

Am I wrong that the kid with the THIRD longest shifts in the sport sat next to Perry on the bench?? Kid chose Boat Anchor Perry to sit next to. Yea, I listened to the DET feed too LA,and yea Mickey is 1,000% correct when he said taking shifts like that is selfish. He shared you do that on any team Perron is on and he's in the face of any selfish no nothings who takes long shifts cuz nobody wins in the NHL like that. Perron, Perry and Foligno types knows these things but a hot shot jrs kid does not.

I find you usually to be objective whether you're right or wrong on an issue/evaluations but your hatred of the despicable rebuild threatens that. But, as I like to mention, I'll never tell a fan how to root for their club and to each his own.
