In case it hasn't been posted, here's the Perry timeline from the Sun-Times. Seems fair, factual and balanced.

First!!! Think it's going to be a difficult draw against the much improved Wings. It'll be fun seeing the Cat again.

We haven't won back to backs yet and usually come out slower after a win, so I can see 2 quick goals by the Wings. If we can withstand the likely early barrage, it might a closer game. I was hoping Beauvillier would draw into this one, but maybe we'll see him on Saturday?

DET lost to the NYR last night in MSG 3-2 after leading 2-1. Good game, it was on TNT. Might not be at their peak.

I know its hard to follow me, when players are treated as property as the RFAs are and are low balled i consider them poverty franchises because they act like they have no money. Maybe if Kane was more than a one way player, oh wait. So when you talk to your coworkers you are completely honest with them?

It was only $1.25 million more

- BetweenTheDots

All players in all team sports are property, starting with being 'drafted'. If you're an MBA coming out of school, you go to work where, and for whom you want. The big consulting firms aren't holding a draft of Ivy League MBAs.

Want to get rid of tanking, eliminate the draft. Let players go play where they want or can strike their best deal.

Pretty sure DET was on a 3 game run before falling in the 3rd period to an excellent NYR squad. Was happy to see a tough game for DET, used their #1 goalie then get on a plane.

To me the Wings are the kind of club that's tough on young groups. That bald coach is good and structure is #1 in his systems which gives young clubs problems, think TB when they're right. Adding vets Copp and Compher solidified the center position, add them to vets Larkin, Perron and Fabbri and you have a lotta experience. Then add Dcat for some punch and the coming around of Raymond and the forward position is pretty solid.

The 2 games I saw Husso he was dialed in, really dialed in and I see his SPG of .885 and think they can assume solid goaltending going forward.

How's the DET rebuild lookin, LA? Stevie Y apparently said F it, enough, and signs/trades for Dcat, Copp, Compher to go along with what the rebuild brought. Now Kaner.

As always when the boss of a rebuild decides it's win time mode it's as interesting as any part of the rebuild. .....PHI, CLB, OTT, BUF, ANA, CHI, MTL all will have win time mode/time and all get there different ways and different times. Stevie Y says now.

Watchya think, LA??

Yes, I know it's an imperfect stat, but here's the 5V5 Corsi for % for the Blackhawk defensemen, season to date. Imperfect, but it sort of looks accurate. Murphy haters will enjoy.

Jones 48.90
KK 47.65
Phillips 46.95
Vlasic 44.90
Kaiser 43.20
Murphy 41.99
Tinordi 41.42
Zaitsev 39.77

You watched Husso last night. He's been very good like that every time I've seen him this yr. Can you believe he's got an .885 SPG? ......... Not a bad club DET has. Play hard, are bought in, structured and have some skill/speed too.

The little I've seen of DET, they can get a little 'run & gun', which exposes goalies to more tough chances than average. Sort of like Grant Fuhr in EDM.

Well lottery balls never went Detroit's way, but Seider, and Raymond are big parts of the club now. They are not bereft of young talent Evidsson (who was scheduled to be on the big club until injury), Danielson, your favorite Kasper, and the finnish defenseman will make an impact soon. Berggre, Rasmussen and Velano are contributors now too.

I think once Stevie Y decided to sign Larkin long term, he knew he had to take advantage of his window and start pushing the pace.

Stevie Y used his cap space very wisely, and was able to capitalize on acquiring and signing ADB, along with Copp and Compher.

Lets see if this is the year the Wings make it back into the playoffs. Stevie Y still has cap space to use at the TDL to shore up.

Kinda validates the eye test, don't you think (objectively, not considering contracts, etc.)

There has to be a typo on the Beauvillier trade. There is no way a NHL GM would trade a pick to swallow a 4th line player with a $4.2 million cap hit.

As stupid as it sounds, my hate for teams are not so much about rivalries (especially as you say, the Hawks need to redevelop rivalries once they are relevant again), by how horrid I think the broadcasters are. And the Preds broadcasters are right up with the worst.

I also must admit that being a transplanted Chicagoan in Los Angeles, I root against all the LA teams, and the Orange County teams are irrelevant.

- LAHawk

No doubt broadcasters can greatly influence how a team is looked at. You can't listen to a Bruins game for a period and not hate the squad cuz of that hateful goof on the call.

Then you get a pure unlistenable homer call like Rado. Then just an absolutely inept call/production of a Hawk game. Then the freak punk owner outa BLT that suspends the PBP guy cuz he said the Orioles are 4 for their last 17 at TB!!

No doubt, the booth is the face of a franchise in many ways and fans resent someone like the Biz Lady for the Hawks who jams 20 more yrs of utter incompetence down a fandom's throat.

But, no way I could root against any Kopitar team, LA, no matter who's on the call. Thanks to technology though we can now listen to the other feed but who do you listen to when BOS plays CHI??

Never heard of the Salary cap? It has a floor too. Actually, from reading your posts I see there is a lot you don't understand about the NHL.

that might need that $4.2 mil. to stay at the floor depending on who they launch at the TDL, or waive
