KD is going to need to get 2 top forwards to play with Bedard next season. You don’t want the next great one getting frustrated. I’d like a power forward and a playmaker on his wings. Let 98 do the sniping. Not sure anyone on the current roster is qualified. - scottak
You mean like Guentzel and Reinhardt?

2 posts and a number of good chances for the Hawks after it went 4-1. Detroit isn’t going anywhere with that defense. - scottak
Yeah a few bounces our way and it would be a tie game. There's so much parity in the NHL but it's their players just have more skill. A pass missed, an open passing opportunity not seen, a shot a little off- it adds up in increments. Raddyish, Johnson and Foligno are great 3rd liners playing top 6 roles. Any time Entwhisle, R. Johnson and Katchouk are all playing shows a serious lack of depth. On a decent team only one, if any, would be playing.
I'm starting to favor Phillips over Kaiser. He's harder on the puck and more fluid. I also like Anderson and hope he stays up here. |

Vosters again- Hawks have a 3 on 1, with Bedard, no mention of it. |

Gonna have a lot of money to spend. I know KD says he’s not bringing them back, but I wouldn’t mind Stamkos & Kane on Bedard’s wings, and Toews as 3C. |

Based on this GM’s history, none of the three will even be considered
Man, even Reichel’s passes now are soft, wonder how much he is going to get as an RFA |

For me, so far:
1. Vlasic
2. Phillips
3. KK
4. Kaiser
But a lot can change by next season, not all development is linear. |

To be fair I’m not sure KFC has a history yet. So far he sold off players to tank and this year picked up warm bodies to continue the tank. Let’s see how he does beginning this offseason. As for a Reichel, he’s not getting much until he begins producing. |

I think KFC is so in love with tearing things down, I don’t think he will ever make a trade/signing that will improve the team |

Bedard is so frustrated, surprised he didn’t break his hand pounding his fist against the boards with his hand on the bench. (At least they showed it on the Detroit feed) |

Maybe sit him a couple games get a different view from the top. I said it before him and kk look lost tentative and lack of confidence just my own observations. |

I'm really curious to see what KD has planned. He's going to have close to $50 million to spend next season. - BetweenTheDots
It's for 13 roster spots. The only given I see so far is Vlasic getting a good bump on his new contract. I expect a few of the prospects to be ready next year. So that will mean good money available for let's say 10 spots, upwards of $4 mill per? Next question is who is available this summer, and who can they trade for?

Imo I have a feeling he will sign a big free agent or make a big trade. I still like to see Davidson see if turcotte is available and what the asking price would be. |

6 rookies, sometimes 7 when Soda starts, are getting valuable minutes. I bet we'll have at least 2 maybe 3 more rookies playing next year. This is what a rebuild looks like.

Phillips has looked good for a bit, but he made some mistakes this game. KK needs to improve his defensive game, but again, he’s 19 and not much choice but to keep him in the show, I would not send him back to juniors. I will say one thing, his passes are tape to tape. As far as Vlasic, the dude can play defensive shutdown with the best of them, even as a rookie. |

Something like:
Hall + Athanasiou = 10 M
Reichel + Kurashev + Donato - 2 M each = 6 M
Bedard + 3 ELC/Min - 1 M each = 4 M
20 M for 9 forwards
Jones + Murphy = 13.9 M
Korchinski + Vlasic + Kaiser + Phillips + #7D = 7 M
21 M for 7 defense
Vet Goalie + Soderblom = 4M
Buyouts and Retention = 3.7 M
about 49 M
leaves 15-37 M for 4 more forwards
===========
Not too hard to get to the floor. Young guys may get some bonuses that count also.
Could sign 4 vets for about 4 M each. Sign more expensive vets and can add some more ELC/Min guys for 1 M each. |

Yes sir they are, I sure hope Dean sticks around and keeps working with him on his defensive game. As far as Kaiser, he battles more than any other defenseman on the Hawks, sure wish he could play with a more steady stay at home partner. Phillips had a bad Keith game, hitting shin pads and throwing bombs at Kaiser, like Keith sometimes threw at Seabs. |

Korchinski sure is struggling in his own end. Many times when there’s pressure he’s standing around seemingly unsure what he’s supposed to do. He also gets out of position easily. He gets the puck out of his own end very well, his passing is very good and he moves the puck around the point with confidence. He has a ton of work to do. I’m sure Richardson and Dean see what we do. |
