I don’t think that is the case, technically the Hawks hold his rights thru his RFA years. But if Bedard forces KFC to trade Bedard, I think that would be the last transaction KFC does as the GM of the Hawks.

How ugly does it have to get before KFC realizes that he is sucking the confidence right out of his star player? Detroit could have set up a tent in front of our net. And what happened to checking? Do these guys think it is flag hockey? HIT SOMEBODY!

Oh, what might save Kyle from Chicago even if he gets more than the LA returns on Wayne Gretzky.

If you like the coach & staff and you believe they can coach up their roster, there is no telling what would be the target date to expect the "coached up group" to finally start showing true dividends?
Will it be after Bedard has tweaked his game to pro level?

Or is it that the group here, along with the college boys, all "arrive" and contribute..

...as a Bedard reaches the start of his dominance offensively?

What else?

The team will have to have signed an elite goaltender, or

developed one.

Shorthanded goals happen eith KK on he point too.

As I have said in previous posts, this forward group is not talented enough at keeping puck control to run the 1 - 4 system.

They need to go back to two defensemen. It's not like they are lighting up the world with this power play formation anyway. They are currently ranked 30th at 10.3%.

Et tu, The Mohel? You of all people should be ecstatic about Beauvillier. Since you believe Cups are won on the 4th line, Davidson has thirteen 4th liners for Richardson to chose from.

That was a snide sportswriter's remark that in the bo Hornet (a #14 over first rounder) trade was traded for

another first rounder.

Well Vlasic should be close or above 20 TOI by season end without PP duty. Imagine eventually both Phillips and Vlasic could see some PP but as long as S Jones is here, he gets time on Pp. I would like to see our young guys - each of them - be given Pp opportunity then compare to S Jones. Alas Richardson will be reluctant to cut S Jones out of Pp duty

Here is L Hughes though with over 19 TOI which includes over three TOI on pP

Also noteworthy
Young forwards
Reichel has struggled. Holtz on NJ Devils tallied #7 tonight. He struggled last season apparently better this season

And just wondering has Clarke been solid in AHL?

I'm excited about the acquisition. He's only 26.

I don't know much about him but it appears he actually has top 6 potential in our poor lineup. This year he has 8 points, and what I like, a +8 averaging only 13:39 a game in the Canucks bottom 6. He has 8 points with very limited ice time. Put up 40 points last season between the Isles and the Canucks averaging 16 minutes of ice time.

I could be wrong, but given top 6 minutes and PP time, he could excel. In any event, he has to be better than Johnson on our top PP line.

Hopefully gone
As in gone off into the race
As a scoring leader
BTW weird seeing Crosby far down among scoring leaders although he was about + 3 points over GP yesterday when I looked. Which is good but not superlative

Vancouver is 0-1 in the post-Beauvillier era. Who would have known he was the key to the Canucks success.

Right - I don't care if they are rookies - how does anyone get to the NHL as a D-man without having a clue how to recognise, and then subsequently, play a 2 on 1 as the 1 ???

Money can't be part of a deal anymore. Pocklington at the time needed money more than Gretzky, and McNall before he was exposed as a shyster gave Pocklington the money.

The coach very much has a clue if you listen to him talk in interviews.

They have a huuuuuge talent gap to overcome.

They do which kind of goes back to the whole rebuild thing which apparently is forgotten by a lot of posters on a game by game basis depending on the outcome.

The Perry departure may not the best situation for Kyle of Chicago, but this will permanently dispel any thoughts that the Chicago management team has not done a 360 turnaround on transparency and treating sexual discretion properly.

I won't go on one way or another about Corey Perry (who always bothered me as a player), and I am sure that he was a very positive influence with Betsy on and off the ice in redraws to hockey.

I do wonder if Davidson's / team's announcement had been "Perry was inappropriate around other team employees" might have been the best way to quell all the crazy internet uncertainty concerning the episode.

Did they not do that because they WERE looking for a trade?

I am certain they weren't going to say he was on the prowl and jeopardize his family life. (Boys protect boys...)

I think that it was a pretty stand up reaction to go into the room the way Kyle did and tell them he was going to look for help, and paid a cheap price for the Vancouver unwanted contract of Anthony Beauvillier who isn't suited for a 4th line role in the pros. The move really doesn't move the needle for me, but it showed the locker room that Kyle was true to his commitment to now.

What I do wonder is if on March 8th, will he return to explain why he cast off anybody any team wanted?
Because though I do think a few of the other newbie forwards have playoff team value, most of them are looking for help on defense.

And no matter what the board thinks the vets who play regular shifts Murphy, and Jones seem to be his only backline chips unless a team simply wants a #7 guy with Tinordi, or the Russian.

How do tell the kids in the room that you are planning to replace a vet on the defense for next season, when improvement is going to be a bigger priority?

I never thought that after my initial ecstasy at win Bedsy, I would before one season, start feeling that he & his family and reps would be think that teh hawks are walking on eggshells to show willingness and quicker improvement so he doesn't bloat out the door back to Vancouver.

(I guess if the family had bought a condo here, I might feel a little more secure. But seeing him in every version of a Canuck's jersey gives me the shivers...)

Is there a young vet defender on a non playoff team who is looking for a new team, and worthy of, say that 2025 Toronto first rounder?

I guess I will stop trying to do Kyle's job now and watch Swedish prospects....

- wiz1901

Yikes!
Wow Wiz,you already have a bad feeling about losing him to another team in 3-4 years? Or him forcing a trade before that?
I always thought hockey players liked playing in the USA because they could basically be anonymous, even if they were really good. I know 98 is different, sort of has that Crosby/McDavid/Toews mentality, so playing in Vancouver would probably be a dream of his,but I remember reading that even in the WHL he could have been moved from Regina to a better team, but didn't want to.

Sinking where exactly? Did anybody think this roster would be a contender? This is all about development. Reichel, Korchinski, and every other rookie should be playing every game as long as they are healthy. A top 3 pick in this draft is what they need while allowing their youth to play. Korchinski is 19 years old. The dude will be a STUD when the Hawks are rolling again. They don't need him to play flawless hockey right now...they need him to play and correct his flaws while they are early in this rebuild.

I think a lot of people have forgotten that this is a rebuild as well. I just hope 98 can take the losing.
I still think they should make a move or two to try and improve.
Even if they land 1 or 2 in the 2024 draft, aren't both Celebrini and Eiserman expected to play next season in the NCAA?

I want to believe that 98 recognizes that they landed him #1 overall because their team sucked last year and would suck this year. LOL. A lot can change in two years. His being frustrated during a game doesn't mean he wants to suddenly leave the city and go elsewhere.

I also have a strong feeling that when his ELC is up in two years, this roster is going to look a whole lot different. Time and patience are everything. Spending $$$ is also going to help a LOT.

Under “Tort(s) Law,” the coach who had been at the helm for roughly half the teams in the league vows to turn each new team into a winner

Usually more whining than winning by the time he departs

This year at the trade deadline Torts will be looking good for the job performance in Philly. BTW one thing I want to do before I get really old, is try a Philly Steak Sandwich in Philadelphia

So maybe Toronto would trade a future first round choice for - you guessed it - Torts

Why not. What else does Toronto have to loose? It is a fabled Maple Leafs right of passage to loose in the post season despite whatever transactions they make

I still think it wouldn't be a bad idea to go after Nylander. He's going to be 28 in May. By the time he is 30 the Blackhawks should be a playoff contender and he probably won't drop off production wise until he is 32. So you'd most likely get 5 good years out of him.

Just checking on a certain prospect

Why it is Allen currently in Rockford

So if he graduates to the NHL will he go to work on his other not natural side? If his partner in the NHL down the road is Korchinski and or DelMastro, we have a Hjalmarsson shaped (somewhat) dman

So…..what happens if once in the NHL he is asked to play his natural side. Not good results at least initially?
