Capitalist corporate weirdness.

I shop for a truck battery today. I check prices with all of the local car parts stores and big retailer chains. Walmart had the best deal, by far. But, the battery is not available for pickup at any store in my tri-county area. However, I could order it online and have it delivered to my door the same day. Weird. So, I order it online, and sure enough, about 5-6 hours later a new truck battery appears on my doorstep.

Thing is, the battery had to be sitting someone in this immediate area if it could be delivered the same day. They could have just told me which store the battery is at and I would have drove my soninlaw's car up there to get it.

So, you can buy the battery, but only via home delivery. You can't go to the store in person and buy one. WTF. Killed my day sitting around waiting for this thing to show up.

That makes sense. Just seems like it would have been quicker and cheaper for them to truck it to a local store and let me go up there and pick it up. Seems like an inefficient system in some cases, like this one particular instance.

Well, either way, I got my battery, so I'm happy. Just thought it was weird that I couldn't pick it up when I was eager to do so.
