I would sniff around Calgary, if they blow it up, see if Lindholm would sign here, and make a deal. Lindholm 2 years ago was 1/3 of the best line in hockey, until the other 2/3 didn’t want to play there anymore. I get he is 29, but to me you have to look into it.

Not saying KD needs to turn into “Trader Jack” Adams (although he won 7 cups as a coach/GM ) but I sure hope he isn’t Don Waddell either.

I'm all on Lindholm. He's been a helluvan NHL centerman for more than just that record yr 2 yrs ago. BUT, he's gonna cost! You wanna give up a Vlasic and a 1st for him?

I want a FA. The time to make a move for the cost of a Lindholm is a finishing touch, no? 3ish yrs from now?

I have put so little thinking into the rebuild other than who they drafted, following the prospects, what that yrs draft/prospects looks like and the rookies in the Bigs.

But they have to add soon. You think they go Stevie Y and add 2 legit NHL centerman like Copp and Compher? Those legit guys at 28 and 29 want, and got, term....... Signing those types to 4-5 yrs will get you to a seasoned Lardis, Hayes, Misiak, Moore, Nazar, Marcel, Ludwinski, Eiserman!!

Only guys who will sign for a yr are 38 yr olds, guys coming off of injury or have been bad for 2-3-4 yrs and need a prove it contract.

What do you do?.......... GMing ain't easy!

- Mr Ricochet

There are some name players becoming UFAs after this season:
Elias Lindholm, Matt Duchene, Sam Reinhart, Max Domi, Sean Monahan, Chandler Stephenson, Teravainen, Martinook, Trenin.

You are right - GM's dilemma will be term and the $.

If it was me, Lindholm 1st, then Stephenson and Monahan. Reinhart won't leave Florida.

It doesn’t need to be a big move. I’m saying if there is a chance to get a guy who is even a passable top six, i think you make the effort (trade or FA). Not sure how much learning is going to happen when you are getting blown out by 3-5 goals every night.
- Chunk

Chunk, you'll like Beauvillier. He's what I'd call a passable top 6 at this stage on this roster. At 26 he has the feet/hands/pace and work rate to move this thing along. And, at 26, he might pop. Stuck in a strict NYI system for yrs then off to VAN for a 40ish games where he's "stuck" on a very good club getting bottom 6 minutes. ..... Was productive in 20ish games with top 6 minutes last yr in VAN.

Hell yea, a solid swing with a decent floor and a who the hell knows ceiling.

You know what, I was thinking GET centerman so I love your list. Monohan is moving very nicely I'd just add but that's scary. ...... Lindholm from CAL is a UFA next yr?

I don't think a couple 28 yr olds inked for 5 yrs should be a problem. Like I mentioned they'll get you to some well seasoned players who are prospects today. .....

Nik Nixon is a HOF announcer. Fox has turned into an excellent color man. Evans between the benches is good also.

Do you know they simulcast TV and radio, getting rid of pretty face Alex Faust, who was still better than Voisters.

- LAHawk

Do you know why Jimmy Fox retired from the Kings at age 28? Was it injuries? Pretty good player in his day.

This acquisition has a place in our lineup and he is a better fit in top six than most of the current group. On the radio broadcast today Wideman and Murray agreed how he darts into position and fit in real well in his first game here. We could afford his contract and it cost only a 5th

Lindholm is a pending FA. If Calgary can’t sign him, maybe the Hawks could get him below market? Of course a SC contender could overpay for a half year rental.

Definitely injuries. Had a very bad knee injuries, tried to come back, lost his speed. Huge scorer in Jrs. Pretty productive player until the injuries.

Go read my post after they announced the trade. I saw Beauvillier in thew preseason his rookie yr and he was zoomin. Drafted him in fantasy that yr in the last rd in a 16 team league. Drafted him his first 3 yrs so I watched the kid a LOT. ..... He's not a jrs player I watched/followed. No, the searious bizness of fantasy.

Any way, posted he's a darter/zoomer like Ehlers and Bratt, just not the finish/points with skilled hands/feet and a high work rate..... ..... Fans will like him........ Again, real nice swing with a nice floor and at 26 who the hell knows what the ceiling is for the skilled player.

Fits now and maybe for the next5-6-7 yrs!

Build from the back end up and thru the middle of the ice. Wingers aren't that hard to find, a good center can make an average winger look better than he is.

Ekholm is a coming UFA making $4.8M - and he sees that stiff Huberdeau making $10M and Kahdri @$7M, both long term. To me, he is a very realistic target for Chicago but is going to ask how they plan to improve the team, quickly, why wouldn't he.

And I really like Chandler Stephenson - solid all round center, can make plays. Perfect 3C. 2 Cups on his resume.

Always liked Monahan but the injury history is a big worry. Nobody mntions it but he's had both hips resurfaced. Kaner only had one done.

Perfect example is the Buffalo Sabres, since 2013 they have had an incredile number of choice draft selection positions - and where has that got them? Basically nowhere. And probably won't make the playoffs this year either.

2013 - 8th and 16th
2014 - 2nd
2015 - 2nd
2016 - 8th
2017 - 8th
2018 - 1st
2019 - 7th & 31st
2020 - 8th
2021 - 1st & 14th
2022 - 9th, 16th & 28th
2023 - 13th

Buffalo hasn't made the playoffs in any of these years. So much for the draft.

- RickJ

And BUF has drafted well!!!

Stephenson is a glue guy!! Will except any role and has the realistic hands/feet to fill in in the top 6. A blue chip middle 6er IMO.

I too have always loved Monohan. A blood and guts type with size, plays(ed) a realistic 2C. But yea man, scary injury he had.

Rockford lost with Phillips and Kaiser in the lineup. They were not a pair, at least not as Phillips started game with someone else. Not Roos, though; he was missing in lineup. Two ECHL dmen played among blue line crew
Hartman only goal in 3–1 setback

BTW Faber, a rookie straight from collegiate, holding up on defense for Minny Wild

- jhawk59

And he's a righty!! Think MN got Faber from LA in the Fiala trade. Faber is not a 1st rd pick IIRC. Wanna say 3rd rd??

How many kids that are worth watching are left? Vlasic, Bedard obviously, and KK. My guess is Reichel is soon to be in the A after his benching. Everyone else is a veteran or tops out as a 4th line energy guy.
- LAHawk

Whadya mean??? You're spoiled? How many rooks you want up? For 20 games you saw THREE rookie Dmen, a phenom and going by Riechel's last call up last yr (15ish pts in 25ish games) we all thought here he comes. He looks like a roller coaster, enjoy the ride of following a skilled 21 yr old try to figurd it out.

You, more importantly the organIzation, saw Crevier make a solid NHL debut today and Kaiser or Phillips will be back up cuz of injury, maybe even Allen or Del Mastro. And now a 26 yr old Beaullivier.

How big of a dopamine release you need every game day, LA??

Helluva game, COL @ LA tied at 1 10 to go. Good Lord, Byfield a beast. If he progresses as he looks like he will AND plays center he's a 10 yr top 5 player in this league.

They can't move the beast outa the crease. Kopitar to Kempe to a camped in front Byfield. 2-1, LA.......

You can add Soderblom and Crevier to that group, plus Reichel, I’m sure will be dressed next game, that’s six. You also have another tier a bit older in Raddysh, Kurashev, and Katchouk,, those seven to nine players are why I tune in. Very hard to pick up top six forwards in season, will have to wait until off season.

Dic*inson is not a bad watch either. I appreciate his heavy European kinda game. Always looks like a polished pro.

Shockingly, the Kings made poor Mr. Byfield play parts of 3 seasons in the AHL. THought it might benefit his development.

And now he looks like the one of the best power forwards in the NHL And he is supposed to be a center..

Saw you linked Cam Robinson in a post. Been reading this guy for a long time atr Dobber (the fantasy bible). He's reeeeeally good evaluating prospects and young pros for fantasy....... He's moved on to Elite Prospects behind a paywall now but he tweets some helpful stuff.

Gun to my head he might be my favorite evaluator of em all, except for our Wiz!! ....... A very good guy to read.

And as far as LA's rebuild I like it. Damn fun team, look dangerous all the time. Would not surprise me at all if they represent the West.

What about strategy scenariios:
Bryam offensive zone starts. Last change home games. Who are the dmen battling Byfield. Kings could have a Big Buff effect in playoffs. Kings to the Cup final? With a their goaltending. Kings could try to upgrade goaltending. In play maybe Kalyiev, Clarke, Kings #1….food for thought

No Makar tonight due to injury. But don't think it mattered, the Kings just overpowered the Avs in the 3rd - 23 shots on goal.

And it was the Kopitar/Byfield line matched up against Mackinnon's.

Did anybody even notice P.L. Dubois out there?

Worse still, Ryan Johansen sucks.
