let say you have a 1 bedroom apartment you rent, oh let say 1000$ per month. you're the owner. I sign a lease with you for 12 months, because, well I'm a good guy and you like me. obviously.
after 6 months I decide to leave and return to Montreal, and instead of paying you the last 6 months, I sell the lease to one of my friend. he'll take over the rent. you as the owner do not have a word to say, you cannot refuse my friend. he could be a drog dealer, an electric guitar player... whatever, you don't have a say in this. and not only will my friend stay there for the next 6 months, but you must keep him for the following years, you're stuck with him like you would be with me.
