you just have to ruin everything don't you
- Pat1993

Hey, I said they would finish the season in 24th-26th spot.

So they are slightly ahead of my prediction currently.

So there is that.

Yeah, that Kings team looks pretty strong. Wondered about their goaltending before the season started, but they seem to be well above average there so far this season.
- Mashadar

its easier for an average goalie to play on a great team

cam talbot is below average but La were good before PLD got there

I though the same thing when tVe3gas traded for Eichel...

Kane was frustrating last year (had him in one of my pools), and watching him play he looked bad. Will be interesting to see how he rebounds, but even if he is a 50-60 point player now, still likely an upgrade.

Eichel's procedure was pretty serious but it isn't the same thing as Kane though

Sure, but Ottawa, Edmonton, Seattle, and Minnesota likely won't be behind for long.

And Calgary (playing much better of late) and Buffalo will likely make a push at some point.

So enjoy 22nd place for now.

Talbot is above average goalie, not by much. Except for the injury plagues season last year, he has been solid the last 3-4 years.

They need to upgrade their back-up goalie. While Copley is 4-0, he has terrible numbers that cannot sustain that record.

Talbot is on a 57-58 start pace, which is not sustainable.

mtl playing for .500 with all those injuries is impressive

Im far from a positive guy in my life in general but some of you are something else

how many more wins would they have, just with Dach? He played one game on the team this season!

losing Savard had a huge impact as well, things were harder after that

add all the others to this and mtl has been doing very good with the roster they were able to come with

Bring realistic?

I am happy with the way the season has gone, for the most part, except I see MSL and his coaching staff not being able to adjust in game and get specialty teams working better than bottom 5-6 in the league in both PP and PK.

I have seen enough of Dach, and even Newhook, to know they will be fine NHL players (if they can keep from getting injured all the time), I have seen enough from Slaf this year to know he will be fine going forward, I have seen enough from the kids on D to know we will have a really strong group lead by Guhle.

The improvements I wanted to see this year are starting to show.

But still a lot of work to do.

whatever, you call it realism, I call it pessimism.. one thing is for sure I wouldn't be watching the games if I thought the same way. it's all good, bygones.

Habs barely touched the puck vs LA last time around but it was a back to back on top of it

they were able to get a point vs DET so you never know I guess

Lets look at the injuries...

Would their PK be any better than bottom 5?

Would their PP be that much better to make a difference?

While they might not be near the bottom of the league in goals/game, I do not think they would be better than maybe middle of the league.

Their goals against would may be a little better, but still near the bottom.

Their shots for and against might improve, but likely still be in the bottom half of the league.

So what is the value of that? 1 or 2 more wins?

Maybe?

There have been really good things this year, we have seen progress in players where we wanted to see them, and the injuries have let other players maybe get additional valuable experience (when given the chance, but that is another issue with coaching)

Even without the injuries, there is a serious lack of depth and productivity on this team, and the goaltending is way below league average.

The Habs were not going to win that many games this year, regardless.

The season is going pretty much as everyone should have expected.

Overall, it is fine.

Well, I am watching specific players, looking for improvements and growth, not really the score.

If they win, that is a bonus.
