I was at the game where he whiffed two from Nieuwendyk. Second one was under a minute in the 1st, making it 3-0 (IIRC).
I've never seen a crowd get so into mocking another player. It was fugly.
People like to mock Leafs fans for being too quiet, but that's the regular season. Playoffs games are a different animal, and that game was the loudest Leafs game I've ever been to. - Atomic Wedgie
Leafs playoff games are so few and far between, they better be louder. |

Treliving needs to take Leafs players who aren't good and won't be good, and trade them for players who are good or who will be very good.
I'm not above including a 3rd round pick in 2025 to make this happen. - Atomic Wedgie
I'd trade a 3rd for snot. |

April 2004. We were in Cuba getting married with about 20 friends. We watched that in the hotel "bar" - with a bunch of people who were there from Ottawa (everyone was very civil).

Oh I thought the plan was the put him, a physical player with talent, along with these 2 for most of the season.
I guess he ended up playing with others? I haven't watched that many Leafs games these past few weeks. - Scabeh
Sorry, I may have been getting my signals crossed.
My brain was fixated on Hyman and comparing his results with McJesus vs. his time with AM34/Marner. |

Regulation wins issue? Pfft... how dare they create a narrative out of this!

I do love the best-of-all-possibilities narrative excuse that is being pushed though: "well, you see, this is proof of our resilience - we've been forcing OT!!!"

I don't think the AAV was ever really thought to be too much ...is was more about the 7 years.
But ...he's making that look less worrisome too. As long as he gets minutes with McD he's going to earn his paycheque.

A significant amount of the people at Leaf games are not fans. They are people with a significant amount of disposable income looking to see and be seen. The game is beside the point of being there.

Klingberg, Liljegren and Giordano are out. Giordano helps that bottom pair immensely, but I'm not that sold on what Liljegren really brings _defensively_. His positioning is sound and his skating/passing are good, but he isn't physical or a battler which hurts his importance to the team.
We have been outshot at 5v5, outchanced at 5v5, outscored at 5v5 and given up more HD chances at 5v5. We've been outplayed in general.
The fact that they are banking wins in the shootout is great but there are a number of underlying problems that they absolutely need to address before this all comes back to haunt them.

They just have to play well enough to make the playoffs. Assuming Detroit falls off ( and they might be for real) they will probably be playing one of Florida, Boston or Tampa in the first round. If they lose in the first round again then I think next summer will see the biggest changes to the roster in recent memory. Nobody except AM34 will be safe. |

That's franking nonsense.
Seen by who?
Yes, the lower bowl is all corporate-types.
They all played hockey growing up.
Toronto fans at games are a pretty sophisticated hockey viewer - they don't get out of their seats to cheer an icing or a Leafs goal to make it 6-2 (Leafs still losing) with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. |

TSN: Leafs getting wrong kind of points!
There are clearly issues with the team right now. They need an upgrade on defence. The 3rd line scares the poop out of me. Bertuzzi seems to drag down whatever line he’s on and they are too dependent on a rookie goalie.
Despite these things the team is in pretty good shape in the standings. The thing I’m least worried about is their lack of regulation wins. |
