Give it to Torts he put Zam in, and Staal was better last game. If torts would have sat ND, the board would have nothing to complain about, nice of him to leave us some female dog material |

so where they are in the standings will determine if they are "rebuilding". Another short yet predictable approach - hello it's me 2050

I think Risto would work for TOR. His salary makes it difficult so I doubt he's a top target. But if they can't find a dman closer to deadline, I could see it. PHI would have to eat some salary. |

if true the flyers are like if they want him he must be good. No way we aint trading him. - hello it's me 2050
this tdl/offseason will be very telling with what the brass is actually doing. havin multiple d on their last year......someone mentioned detroit the other day. i hope even if they are close to or in the playoffs they still trade to get assets. however i doubt they do if in the playoff hunt.
this is also what torts does. just look at columbus. for years he had them performing above actual expectations. once in the playoffs the actual talent level of the team was exposed. but he got them there.

The Leafs have two players that have a similar AAV to Risto. Both are in the last year of their contract though. Leafs have a ton of open space going into next year.
So something like Risto to the Leafs for Brodie and pick(s) would be a start. Not sure what those picks would be as the Leafs are taking on the term.
I do not see it. But it is not out of the realm of possibility. Risto does provide cost certainty for the Leafs.

The team is never going to tank. I don’t like it but they don’t want do it and I think the majority of the fan base doesn’t want them to do it either. It’s something that has to be accepted and move on. |

How do you propose the Flyers tank? In my opinion Couturier, Atkinson and Ristolainen are moveable. The world is crashing down around us if you don’t play York, Frost, Brink, Farabee, Tippett, Hart or Zamula. The team is playing fairly well together with low expectations and if they weren’t Torts gets tortured for being an even worst coach than he’s excused of. How does this team tank? |

If they had a lick of common sense they would have sold high on Konecny, instead of looking to extend him which we all know is happening.
That can be done.
Laughton, Walker, Seeler, and Hart are other moves to make.
It’s true that this isn’t happening, because the Flyers don’t actually rebuild. It’s the same old bullpoop, but they have just temporarily paused on chasing free agents.
They aren’t rebuilding anything worthwhile so proudly moving themselves out of top end picks.
They want to be a middle of the road team when it comes to talent, that wins on culture along with effort. It’s by design, and it’s very much on brand for a team obsessed with its past. |

I’m on board with trading Konency and Walker. I think they’re realistically moveable. If you do trade players though, you have to replace them, even on a bad team. Even if you divide some of these guys, you have some pretty decent players you want to lift up and not drag down. |

A rebuild prioritizes maximizing value for the future.
The Flyers constantly make excuses to not do it. They can replace Laughton, and Walker anytime. Konecny as well.
It would just mean they maybe lose a few more games, but a higher chance at Connor Bedard isn’t worth it.
I’m just wondering who is still stupid enough to believe the rebuild nonsense. Maybe those who cheer for Tortorella as the face of a franchise in 2023. |

Would love to move the players with term. I do not think anything will happen in season on Coots, Risto or Sanheim. I also do not think the Flyers are motivated to move any of these players just to get out of the contract.
SO until then move the UFA's and RFA's that they are not resigning. I think Hart, Tippett, Walker and Seeler would garner a good amount of draft capital in return.

This team tanks by moving out Hart, Konecny, Laughton, Walker, Seeler and now Ristolainen while filling in with AHL level defensemen and prospect forwards. Basically what Chicago did last season. |

The Leafs need to add to their defense, not swap out a better player for a lesser player plus give up picks. Brodie I'd a significantly better player than Ristolainen is. Ristolainen at this point is a 3rd pair defenseman that is the 5th best defenseman on a team with a mediocre at best defense corps. If they would take the full contract and give us a 3rd. You say Hallelijiah, say yes as quick as possible and head to church because a miracle just happened.
