you can have good development with Savard and Matheson showing the way, I don't think defense is the biggest issue on this team anyway lol
- Pat1993

Our D is only going to get better with the talent coming in and them getting more experience.

Our drafting should now concentrate on making our offense much more potent, we don't need 2 dozens more 3rd liners but a few top 6 forwards.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

PS: As for the Pens ... they have many year of mediocrity coming, this is not an insult but it's the nature of having to rebuild teams after a while.

yeah, unfortunately for them they weren't able to replicate what they've been doing in BOS so far... can't wait until those mofos fall.

As distasteful as it is to doing so, you have to tip your hat when other people do it right.

The Habs used to be the shining example of this ... but that era is now gone.
I'm hopefull Hugo will bring it back but only time will tell ...

I think you'll see fewer and fewer teams be very good for extensive periods of time. Detroit has been able to do it before that too, but it's definitely harder now than it was before.

Totally agree ... now it's all about the all mighty dollar.
As soon as your team gets good, you can't afford it anymore ... I blame the insane media contracts.

Richer organizations have more money to spend on scouting (and other off the books endeavours). It will never be an even field no matter how much they try.

But I'm just an insane old dinosaur so what do I know? ... it's also killing my interest in sports.

agreed. and you also have to factor in the number of teams, I wouldn't say it's being too diluted right now but there is a certain dilution of talent going on with 32 teams in play, all trying to get in on it...

My interest in baseball became ZERO as soon as I understood we were only a development team for the richer Yankees and Red Sox of this world.

As soon as we started to have competitive teams, we'd get poached by the bigger markets with more lucrative TV contracts.

There comes a time when the fans just tune out ... why bother?

Haven't watched a game since the Expos left.

The '94 strike and then the sell off of players before the start of the '95 season.

(frank) baseball.

And I LOVED the Expos, as I kid I would spend all my allowance on bleacher seats - go from the West Island to the Big Owe at least twice a week by STM, from the time I was 11 until I left for University, to watch games.

Do you trade Harris or Kovacevic?
Harris probably gets better offers, but KOvy is starting to scare me

not to be that guy, but caffeine can take away hunger, so I suggest he eats before drinking coffee...

Harris has played 91 NHL games so far, Struble 12... Struble has looked great but this conclusion is way too hasty imho.
