Yeah sure but he was a huge component of that team. Still is. - Cptmjl
No question Cpt. Tampa just had everything going from the GM and coaches and other players as well. I doubt Garth could have built around Hedman. |

Yeah wasn’t saying he could. When a team wins the cup it’s an all hands on deck kind of thing with multiple other factors coming into play. |

Bill taking Potvin #1 overall and it’s not a surprise Bill would want Hedman. I cannot rip Garth taking JT though. - ses111
Potvin was the #1 choice for any GM that draft. |

I thought the same thing. It’s a microcosm of his career. Ties the game with 6 seconds remaining. Game 7 OT celly, only to lose the game a min into OT. Amazing that a guy in that elite club of 1000 pts, has had little to know playoff success. 15 seasons and saw the second round twice. Whatever isles fans opinions are about him, his legacy is kinda garbage…..minus his personal stats. - kindlyrick
Now that I think about it, has a guys whole team came on the ice to celebrate a 1000th point before? Genuine question. |

At this point, already, when he was hurt in the 3rd period I was poopting myself. That’s how much he is already needed. |

I’m thinking like, I don’t think so, but I could be wrong. I mean, even the (frank)in backup goalie came out.
I mean, I got nothing against the guy, and few great memories of him on the team but…LOL. |

He's fast and jumps up in the play and seems to get in good spots to shoot |

Yeah, it has been a whole team on the ice celebration for the ones I remember seeing.
It's a huge milestone and I get the celebration.
Edit - Pretty impressive list of players that Pajama Boy joined.

It's interesting to think what might have been. Even with Hedman, Islanders still had Garth and Cappy so it's hard to see great things happening even with Hedman. Tampa had a lot more than Hedman. - ses111
I wonder where Hedman would have signed, the second he had an opportunity to leave Long Island?

Very impressive list of names. The asterisk of that list is that Tavares is the only one who never made it past the second round. I didn’t check but after a glance of the names most won cups or made it to the ECF. |

Probably whereever he wanted to play unlike JT whose wife told him where he was going to play and live. wussy whipped Kunt! Fits perfectly in Toronto - nyisles7

Can you imagine telling leafs fans right after they signed JT that their biggest accomplishment in that 7 year deal would be getting his 1000th point on the Island while losing the game🤣🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡 |

Hey, don’t forget they made it to the 2nd round that one time since he has been there. Well worth the 77 million dollar investment. |

Right?!?! Leaf fans and media had them hoisting the cup July 2nd.
If you’d have told me the isles would have 2 ECF post tavares vs Tavares first round exits, and 1 second round visit, id never have believed that.
The absolute irony that he jumped ship for a better shot at the cup, only to fail is poetic justice. |
