No - Caufield has proven twice he's a scorer his underlying metrics are fine and his shooting percentage is low. Debrincat has had similar struggles. Will even out eventually.
Not a good comparison. - fattybeef
It was sarcasm (not irony which I originally put down by mistake). I know that Caufield is the real deal. Niw I have no doubt Reichel is talented and should be able to play in the NHL. I am uncertain as to his shortcoming to date but you have an investment in him. So you just give him time and work with him. This is the only sensible choice for a team in throes of a rebuild with a paucity of quality too six forwards currently
With S Jones out and Tinordi out as well only five dmen so need a recall. Wish give Roos a look |

Advice please? We'd like to attend an away game, somewhere we haven't gone before (we've done only midwest away games). There's a stretch of California games in March. We know nothing about the stadiums nor the cities themselves! Well I've been in LA a few times but no clue where the stadium is.
Any recommendations for a good game experience plus a day or two in the area? We're the walking around all day exploring types, not "visit the stores" or "take in a show"
3/19 LA
3/21 Anaheim
3/23 San Jose
There's also Arizona on 3/5. I really don't want to support hockey in AZ... but if there's a good reason....

I'd defer to LA, I only lived in north Orange County for 2 years, but my company was in Torrance so I spent a lot of time in SoCal traveling back and forth to HQ.
You're going to need a car. Orange County is south and east of LA.
Duck tickets should be easy to get, not as sure about the Kings, although I'd guess some should be available. Whether it's in OC or LA, stay by the ocean. Not sure what your budget is, but my favorite place in LA is Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Outstanding location, high end service, glorious views.
The Honda Center, (Ducks) is in South OC, not far from John Wayne Airport and Disneyland, if you're taking the kids you could stay in a Disney hotel.
Crypto.com Arena (Kings) is in Downtown LA.
Depending on traffic it can take either 30 minutes or 7 hours to get to either of the arenas. Make sure to check traffic reports.
The Redondo/Hermosa/Manhattan Beach area in SouthBay is great for people watching and the epicenter of professional beach volleyball.

LOL, I am biased as I am in Santa Monica and don't like Orange County where 95% of the people live behind walls. The Kings play at Cryptoc.om, which is downtown LA. LA you have the beaches, plenty of hiking also. You can generally find a ticket, and depending on where you want to stay, you can take the train, or uber just about anywhere you want to go. - LAHawk
🤣🤣🤣. I figured the people in OC live behind walls because they can’t stand the people from LA. I’ve been gone for over a year, but some of my remaining friends (all two of them) say that LA has continued to devolve into poophole status. Pretty sure I can argue that OC is at least cleaner than LA? |

Everything in the "On-Ice" stats are team stats and the "individual" page is adjusted per player.
xGF is basically Corsi or FF adjusted for the quality of scoring.
I'm looking at ixGF because it highlights how far ahead he is from everyone in terms of generating goal scoring opportunities.
Even if you take the on ice xGF number he is still significantly separated from the other forwards.
xGF as a percentage is a little more complicated to look at because the team is so incredibly bad that number is going to be horrendous (which it is) across the board.
xGF \ 60 Donato is one of the two above him (which if you look at his career would probably track and explain why he keeps getting chances or why he should get a chance even though he hasn't been able to break out - too bad he really doesn't pass the eye test) and the frenchie
is up there but I'm curious to see what more minutes will do to that number if he gets shuffled around. He's tracking like a guy who should be able to score 15-20 but even if say him and Hall are a wash it's still very very very bad.
Anyway - everyone sucks at defense but at least but at least they are more likely to score when Bedard and any of the top 4 defenders are on the ice. And when you start to break down the numbers the only thing they say is Bedard is lightyears ahead of the guys he's playing with offensively. - fattybeef
Very helpful post, fatty. Quickly for those, like me, who needs the glossary of the fancies here it is. https://www.naturalstattr....com/glossary.php?players
As an old guy I wasn't adverse to the fancies, like some, but at the same time I'm just too old not to carry most of the weight on the eye test. But, you just can't get a full picture absent bias without the fancies and many times they back up the eye test.
And the Hawk fancies do pass the eye test. Bedard is by far the most dangerous offensive player they have, as an 18 yr old the fancies for him in a team concept are not kind and the roster is really weak..... .. Fancies tell us that but so does the eye test.
Like you I did notice Granato with some good fancies, both team and individual, and I'd add Anderson to that small list. Watching Anderson you can see the IQ, kid pops in at the right place at the right time often.
Anyway, thanks for your effort and hope you keep an eye on the fancies, both good and bad, and hope you share your work. As mentioned, I do not want to spend hours down the fancy's rabbit hole anymore (I still have not even looked once at who is leading the league in goals or points this yr) except for my favs that are scoring chances and high danger chances which I used as my go to for fantasy.

Anyone else watching Blues and Wings? ADB snd Kane on a 2 on 1, ADB with the puck, Kairu catches Kane in about 4 strides, ADB had no choice but to shoot. Kaner has no acceleration, very sad to see.
But he still has his hands, tongs one off the post |

You think he is in top shape! May not have the acceleration that he once had, but I bet he is in good enough shape to play…,just not top top shape |

No, watchin TOR at NYR in the 2nd of a back to back, 3rd string goalie in (JONES), flu bug runnin thru the room, Knies out, 11 forwards, 7 Dmen and they're UP 4-1 2nd period1
That's why we work for a living and not gamble.
I thought Kaner was moving more freely. He's 35 so a speed decline is expected but wondering if you think he's moving unencumbered?

I don’t think Kane looks encumbered, still looks like he can turn and cut fine. Just looked to me like ha had no first step, and no straight line speed |

It makes you wonder Rico, something is not right with the decision to not only send him down, but all the healthy scratches as well, especially with the lack of talent upfront on this Hawks team. |

Is the talk (rumors?) around franchise's meeting rooms to just stay away? Not like Boris is a top 6 guy, or even middle 6 on the vast majority of teams or bottom 6 on a few, so just not worth the headache/risk?

Just watched DET's last PP and like last time I too thought Kane moved smoothly. ...... Just hope it ain't an injury that end's his career and he himself mentioned just that IIRC........

Since firing Jay Woodcroft on Nov. 12, the Oilers are averaging an NHL-best 4.33 goals per game — more than half a goal better than any other team in the league. And their power play (31.7%) ranks second in the league over that span. They flipped the switch after the coaching change. Look out!
