Always makes me laugh when people say that about a guy with 21 points in 26 games, but to a point it is true.

Lets be honest, Zib is awful 5v5 right now. 10 even strength points in 26 games, 4 goals. Thats brutal for a 1st line center. I'm glad the rest of the team is playing well, and we aren't a 1/2 line team anymore, but Zib needs to figure it out sooner than later.

LTIR confuses the gell out of me.
Is it beneficial to wait as long as possible to LTIR guys for the season? I’m not sure how it works. But if they wait to place him, and possibly Fil, on season ending LTIR does that accrue more cap space? Because that’s probably what they should do and keep Goodrow. Like do it right before the TDL is want I’m asking, does it make a difference

- Slimtj100

As long as they are on LTIR, their cap space is "freed". I dont think they accumulate cap space but players on LTIR their cap space doesnt count against the total cap. The Rangers technically have 6.5m of cap space right now with Kakko and Chytil on LTIR. Its imaginary though. If theyre gonna come back, you cant do anything.

If Zib ever gets going, we might never lose a game.....
- mdw7413

I’m sure I’ll get destroyed for this lol but just add it to the list

Suppose they did a second line of
Cuylle Zib Vesey

3rd line of
Kreider Bones JBrod

4th line
Pitlick Goodrow Wheeler

For whatever reason Kreider and Zib is just not connecting this year. Keep the PP the same tho, I’m talking specifically 5 on 5

I’ll say it til I’m blue in the face and idgaf about the flack, but Cuylle and Vesey are their two best 5 on 5 players aside from the BLT line. THEY NEED MORE ICE TIME

Islanders are not a great team, but hard to call a team with Barzal, Bo, Dobson, Nelson, and Sorokin bad. Islanders also have a lot of injuries on defense. Will be interesting to see how the season plays out especially if the Islanders clean up their defensive play.

Bad is wrong choice of words. More mediocre/middle of the pack.

overall team defense has declined without Kakko in the lineup, I dont think its disputable
- jimbro83

People can female dog all they want about Kakko not putting points up but they are worse without him in the lineup.

Zib has been solid. He just looked as a top 10c by a lot of people but hes closer to 15. His 5v5 play leaves a lot to be desired.

Kakko is not a net negative in the lineup. Not a point producer but hes not a liability. Wheeler on the other hand...

I agree with you to an extent about more minutes, Ive been a huge Vesey fan from when he got into the league, but he is way more suited on the 3rd/4th line.

Kreider and Zib need to stay together and just figure the poop out. They are great when they are playing well

Laf looks like he has afterburners on his skates now

Ill scream it from the rooftops, as much as everyone loves Kreider with Mika, hes not the type of player that elevates guys around him. He goes to the net, grinds in the corner and screens the goalie. All very important things, but not having a RW who can possess the puck, who will draw 2 defenders to him and make passes will curse that line.

If they want to try something different...

Panarin, Ziba, LAF
Kreider, Trocheck, Brodz
Cuylle, Bonino, Wheeler
Vesey, Goodrow, Pitlick

I really think Vesey is turning into a great player. I’m seeing things he never showed before🤷🏻‍♂️guys blossom late and he was highly regarded when we got him out of college that year. Even then he still scored 20 goals if I recall.
Edit:he had 17 goals twice and 16 once

I think we very much underrate him here, not me lol

I am more annoyed that Kakko plays on the wall and perimeter too much. Take it to the net and create. Cause some havoc or shots

He may have cooled off, but there have been numerous ridiculous saves on him or on plays he helped create.

Also have to remember, zero power play minutes for him.

I cant break up the BLT line. It baffles me the lack of respect Vesey gets. I don’t like it 🤷🏻‍♂️ he’s better than a 4th line guy, he just is

Perreault is taking Laviolette's daughter to Pound Town

#NYR Peter Laviolette on @BC_MHockey's Gabe Perreault:

“I talked to my daughter, she goes to Boston College. She tells me Gabe’s doing just fine. She goes to all the games, she texted me and said he had a beauty the other night. I’ve got my own personal scout at the game, she’s doing a great job with it.”

Middle of the pack is fair. I’m just happy the Islanders have more speed with Holmstrom, Engvall, and Gauthier and they seem to finally have a functioning offense. If they can learn to protect leads, they could be a tough out.

See you cant separate in your mind from being a hockey fan. In the same way you dont want to break up the BLT line, why should we break up Vesey, Goodrow and Pitlick if they are generating scoring chances and offensive pressure? As far as offensive pressure theyre arguably the second best line out there. Unless youre McDavid, the way a line plays isnt solely reliant on one player. That line plays well and Vesey scores because of how they work as a unit on the ice. Removing Vesey from that line doesnt guarantee that Vesey will continue to keep scoring. However what is more likely to happen is that line that you just removed Vesey from becomes less effective. So youve now made the 4th line less effective and pushed Vesey into a line theres no guarantee that whatever line hes on gets better.
