Perreault is taking Laviolette's daughter to Pound Town
#NYR Peter Laviolette on @BC_MHockey's Gabe Perreault:
“I talked to my daughter, she goes to Boston College. She tells me Gabe’s doing just fine. She goes to all the games, she texted me and said he had a beauty the other night. I’ve got my own personal scout at the game, she’s doing a great job with it.” - jimbro83

See you cant separate in your mind from being a hockey fan. In the same way you dont want to break up the BLT line, why should we break up Vesey, Goodrow and Pitlick if they are generating scoring chances and offensive pressure? As far as offensive pressure theyre arguably the second best line out there. Unless youre McDavid, the way a line plays isnt solely reliant on one player. That line plays well and Vesey scores because of how they work as a unit on the ice. Removing Vesey from that line doesnt guarantee that Vesey will continue to keep scoring. However what is more likely to happen is that line that you just removed Vesey from becomes less effective. So youve now made the 4th line less effective and pushed Vesey into a line theres no guarantee that whatever line hes on gets better. - aecliptic
I know what you’re saying I really do (with the 4th line) But the priority for them should be getting Zib going. And he’s not going with the other combos they’ve given him. The two guys that are going 5 on 5 are Cuylle and Vesey. They need Zib to score 5 on 5 so put him with the 2 guys who score 5 on 5 consistently is my thinking. Whether it’s Zibs fault or kreiders idk, but I think splitting them up may need to happen
Again injuries need to force their hand on things and I think this is one of them |

Gauthier has been a nice surprise. Adds good speed to the 4th line with some talent. |

GG didn’t give him enough opportunities imo. I loved that kid His hands are what is weak but he seems to be getting better shots off, i saw one of his goals last week |

But the fact that you think that a career bottom 6 player is all of a sudden the guy to elevate 2 of the best players in the league is kind of laughable. |

Gauthier has the size and speed, never had an issue getting to the net... its what happened when he got there that was the problem. |

Coaches love the vet players. Lane is no Barry as a coach, but he is more patient with young players and is willing to give them a shot. |

You’re missing my point. MAYBE he is now a better hockey player at this stage, then said career 4th liner. But nope let’s roll out the carcass of Wheeler with them game in game out. Brilliance I tell ya, brilliance
He has on pace for 20 goals ffs. Maybe that goes up to 30 on a higher line he has always had ability |

Martin’s injury opened the door and Gauthier better stay in the lineup if he continues to play well. |

I think maybe youre missing the point that we go from 2 lines that produce to 1 line that may or may not produce more. You want one line to produce more and one line to produce less. Id rather have 2 lines that produce. |

The knock on Gauthier isn't wrong. But he draws penalties, creates scoring chances on his own and can be physical if needed. Would gladly take him back.
edit: Just that he has stone hands. |

Whatever man. Stop disrespecting Vesey ya putz
I know the Zib line isn’t producing. I also know the 4th line doesn’t get nearly the ice time that he gets. But let’s him flounder, solid strategy. Solid |
