I think if they are close and need to add at the deadline he will be moved but just my opinion - Upstate_isles
Well, sure, it makes sense that Lou would offer him as a trade chip. Hard to see a whole lot of interest in him. Maybe he'd just be a throw-in instead of a mid-round pick. |

Maybe, I just don't think there's really any value there. Maybe he just gets chucked in a trade, but they don't really have any other top-6-type extra's waiting in the wings if someone goes down. - eichiefs9
Is he even a top 6 player? He's had tons of chances and failed although that lends credence to your point on his value |

If he's traded for a forward, then his value to the Isles is further diminished.

I meant it more along the lines that he's the only guy can slot into a top 6 role. If Lee gets hurt, nobody wants to see Martin put on Barzal's line.
Maybe top-9 would have been a better choice of words. But point being, of the two current extra forwards...he's really the only one that should be playing in a "scoring" role. Obviously I don't think he's a top-6 forward and just rotting in the press box for no reason.
I suppose you could bump everyone up a line and backfill Martin into his old spot too, if I'm being fair. But I think Martin's tank is just about on E |

I imagine Wahlstrom would be/will be an offseason deal. He takes up no cap room and is a good option to have if someone goes down. - eichiefs9
I would keep Wally for now and especially with Palms injury history.

I’m not sticking up for Wahlstrom in any way but the kid was out with what I believe was a pretty serious knee injury. Takes a while to come back from that. He’s had plenty of chances like you stated but I think expecting him to come in kicking arse was a bit unrealistic.
I say that acknowledging he very well may be a bust and this is his make or break season irregardless. He’ll probably get a couple more chances this season due to injuries I would think… |

Yea I think Martin is done but really liked him as a player. Could be wrong and he could come back and be lights out but I don't see it. This lineup needs the speed it has without him |

Unless there’s an opportunity to save on some salary to take on another players that’s exactly what they’ll do. |

Was Wally even that bad this year? I know not a big sample size. I know you cannot change the lineup right now just for Wally. |

Martin has cemented his Isles legacy at this point, but present-day Marty is toast. I liked him a lot too, but he's a dinosaur in today's NHL. In both age and the way he plays. |

Does it make sense for the isles to go after kuzmenko? Had 75 points and 39 goals with nucks last year and he would make that top line lights out. Lee can slot down in the lineup, or perhaps they go for a d mam. Has barzal finally turned the corner? Blocking shots (well 1) and leading league in takeaways and scoring over a ppg he's finally shooting and that one timer is pretty good on the pp |

Unless Lou brings in Parise mid stream which could bump someone |

He wasn’t terrible. Had a few decent games some ok but didn’t exactly stand out either. |

Funny you say that, because Friedman just posted this on 32 Thoughts today:
I don't really know where you put him in though. Maybe bump Gauthier out? |

Parise was a good Islander, but I'd rather not bring him back at this point.

That he can. Just cannot see him bumping anyone off the 3rd line right now. |

I don’t follow the 32 thoughts thing (I will now), I saw on some isles thing on FB that Parise is skating in Minnesota. It would make sense to me given the history with Lou (and now the isles).
I’m liking Gauthier in the lineup. My thought of Parise is if and when there’s the Palmieri, or Lee injury he can fit |

Just thinking through how things look when we're healthy:
Pulock. Pelech
Dobson Romanov
Reilly Mayfield
Bortuzzo
*I'm not saying that's where I want Mayfield..just reality
Seems like Aho and Bortuzzo could be thw odd men out. Does one become movable with Wally and a pick for and upgrade somewhere? Or maybe Pulock has ine of those long term foot injuries and doesn't come back until next year.... anyway, lots to consider there. The better Reilly and Bortuzzo play, the more tradeable one becomes |

I like Gauthier too, his speed is an element they don't have a ton of. Minor complaint, but he seems to have an odd thing where he takes some really stupid icings.
At this point I'd probably lean Gauthier too, but Parise's 21g last year are tough to ignore also. If Parise comes back I may change my tune on Wahlstrom sticking around much longer |

Aho's lack of size hurts him. Can see him as a long-term option. Bolduc has more upside. |

I'm wondering if Martin isn't effectively going to just be on Robidas Island for the rest of the year. Gives him a little opportunity to save face instead of just flat out having Fasching steal his job and waiving him. That might clear one spot and Wahlstrom getting later'd would clear another.
Then you'd have the current starting 12 + Parise and Romanov/Dobson, Pelech/Pulock, Reilly/Mayfield + Bortuzzo/Aho. Martin could draw back in if any forwards go on IR and he's needed. |
