crazy how improving team structure and defence can impact a goalie's performances. - manvanfan
He's a top 5 goalie in the world when he has a competent defence in front of him. |

I honestly don't understand the fascination with the Skate Jersey? It's just an awful combination of colors (because of the bright yellow) and the logo itself is terrible. |

Thanks Yorkie, great work.
That dreadful skate jersey is an abomination. - Marwood
The players seem to love them. But they look a lot like the flames third jersey...

Black jerseys are better than light coloured ones pretty much across the board, yellow just pairs well with black. The spaghetti skate isn't perfect, I actually prefer the indigenous variation they released this year:

If you're going to retire a jersey, the MINIMUM requirement should be playing the vast majority of your career with the team and accomplish something that no other player in your position on the team could do. As NorthNuck said, no one is going to wear #1 again anyways. It's why I've never been a fan of the Canucks retiring #12, #16 and #19 as Smyl, Linden and Naslund's retirement was more for their notoriety and service rather than for their actual accomplishments especially since none of them were ever HOFers. The only jerseys that I honestly felt deserved retirement were the Sedins because Bure ended up only playing half of his career in Vancouver and the jersey retirement seemed more as a way to right the wrong of the way his exit happened and to bring him back into the fold than because he deserved it. |

Now that I think about it, the general feeling about retiring #1 might be different if the Sedins were the only numbers in the rafters. |

Problem about going back to the skate jersey full time is it has to be in white also and the white ones are hideous. Where if it's just the third jersey, it can be just black. |

James Cybulski
Luongo meant so much more to the Canucks than just Ring of Honour. Should’ve had his number retired. If there are still hard feelings about how it ended, the moment could’ve been pushed another couple years. Bobby Lu is the best goalie in team history and it’s not close.
I'm not sure I care whether he made it to the ring of honour/ or jersey retired. |

Can't find it now but I saw that it's mostly public models that have Canucks PDO at 105 ish but the NHL data has the Canucks down around 102 and 3rd in the league. That's why the "regression" hasn't been as bad as some had predicted. |

I was just supporting Linden when he was attacking Benning. Trevor has an axe to grind and I just wanted to help him out. I'll change it to a Linden West Coast Express picture. |

Just to point out how again you are wrong, they could use yellow and not white.

Here's my thoughts on it above.
Probably why analytics are so useful because for most you really can't trust their eye test. |

It is pretty obvious, just from the discussions on here, that some have very little knowledge of hockey, those are the ones who usually post some garbage analytical stat. Know anyone like that? |

Not only did the #Canucks not retire Luongo’s number, they didn’t get him anything but a jersey? Nothing? The guy got you to within 1 win of a Cup & was the best goaltender in franchise history. This is such spiteful silliness. Alas, he was funny and classy, as always. #Retire1 - manvanfan
