nobody has been able to say what the Oilers would send our way or how mtl has really something that the Oilers need and that would make sense for both teams
yeah bygone |

you are right, difficult to see a trade between these 2 teams. unless it's a really big one. Draisaitl big. so yeah, probably not happening.

Can you imagine Ken Holland sitting in front of the press trying to convince people getting rid of Draisaitl was the right move to try and win the cup?

my point as well is that I dont get why we focus so much on the Oilers with 30 other teams in the league
I dont see Allen has having value, but it would put an end to the 3 goalies carroussel once and for all and let Primeau and Montembault get the starts that they need. I would not expect a piece helping the team coming back
If for a defenseman, Oilers would target Matheson or Savard, not Harris. Mtl is not doing that and no, Draisaitl is not coming to town in a god damn sleight
if they put Monahan with kids on the 2nd and he catches fire again, that could be a late first round pick for the HABs coming back. By then Newhook will be back and they will be able to let him finish the season as a C. |

depends what they get back in return I guess. he'll be a ufa in 18 months, they might want to cash in. |

both Allen and Savard are not going anywhere this time around imo. next year, when they'll be pending UFAs, then there will be a market.
this year it's Monahan, Pearson... |

Doubt there's much of a market for Pearson. He probably has as much value as Dadonov had last year.
Monahan will bring back something, though likely not a first rounder after all.

totally agreed for Pearson.
Monahan, depends. a top6 center with experience, at 2M per.... there might be many buyers and that would drive the price up. |

and that of course is if they do not extend Allen next fall, someting like 2x4M. because you know... that's what we do here. |

Oh please, we've had that discussion before.
It made sense to try and give stability to the goaltending position for 3 years. Montembeault was considerably less proven, Primeau was shaky in the AHL and we had nothing else.
We don't have the same need next season and moving forward. Allen will retire and become a goaltending consultant for the team. |

would you give a 2nd round pick to trade him right now? so Primeau and Monty play under 'normal' circonstances and keep on progressing, and put an end to this nonsense ménage à 3? |

nobody is taking Allen with that contract unless you give them a pick.
oh they can keep 3 goalies, slowing down the development of the 2 kids.
I tought HuGO said this season was about development.
I probably misunderstood sorry. |

the oilers are in need of help on the backend and in net, the habs potentially have both, so a trade is possible imho. doesn't mean it'll happen. |
