3 of 4 points on the road on matinee games.

That never happened wtf...

Shorty said he was at the end of the bench for 2 minutes. Being a Dman down I guess RT felt he had to play him.

If that was Colorado we’d be discussing why they keep having slow starts and that’s causing them to lose games against better teams….but it wasn’t.

So WTF are you throwing out comments like what is so great about Matthews?

Again I will point out the obvious Petey is the 2C on the Canucks.

- VANTEL

That's a complete rephrasing of what I said. I asked what does Mattews do better than Petterson? Simple question, which you guys immediately applied a ton of your own bias too, instead of using the eye test and taking it at face value.

He had 23:13 in ice time, second only to Hronek at 23:57, I think shorty must be Reuby with his Hughes hatred.

Buddy I'm not gonna dedicate hours of my time to watching the Leafs I wanted your opinion and it sounds like you're not interested in giving it beyond calling Pettersson a 2nd line C.
- NorthNuck

Matthews is more accurate & lethal.
Single most scary shooter in the NHL.
Makes their PP feared league wide.
Much better puck possessor.
Drives play better.
Doesn’t fall down all of the time.

He can dictate his own contract.

Shorty missed the obvious need to mix up the pairings is all. Hughes missed part of one shift is all. Don't think it was 2 min either...

What is your theory why RT benched Hughes?

Well based on the last few years it seems like any star player in Toronto can do that.

Because he was shuffling the pairing?

Not good enough.
- Marwood

Never good enough seeing they can play better in both games. That said it is the process & 3 outta 4.

Still say top 2 lines aren’t quite themselves & the 3rd line is driving the bus.

Most of the goals being scored these days are against Hughes and Hronek. Hughes got outmuscled by Foligno on the second goal.

No reason to panic. The D overall have been good in the last 10 games. You can't complain about a top 3 team.

Matthews is one of the best goal scorers to come around since Ovechkin, that part of his game is elite, full stop. He’s very good defensively, he’s a great skater and he uses his size well. However, for a center he’s not a great distributor of the puck, his overall game as a center is not elite, like McDavid or MacKinnon, and he should’ve never won the Hart. It was an Eastern media push for him to win.

He’s earned it & without Matthews the Leafs are not close to being as good. Petey just isn’t on his level yet. Different players but not in the same contract territory imo.

I think Foligno could outmuscled 98% of the league, he could outmuscle Hughes with both hands tied behind his back.

They’re winning and it’s fun to watch them play again, no complaints from me.

I'm still trying to figure out what RT has seen in Suter since his return to move him up the line up. He's looked tired and hesitant so far.

I was not complaining either. If Hughes got to sit for a bit it is not a big deal. RT sat Miller and this is no different. He holds everyone accountable.

Yup Foligno is a big boy. We won and that is what matters. I need to go now and check and see if that was an expected win.

He and Pettersson do so many things similarly on the defensive side of the puck, they both block shots and generate takeaways. Petey finished slightly above him in Selke voting last year I believe.

I feel like Petey has the advantage in hockey IQ, and if he were stapled to a player of Marner's caliber for years, we'd be talking about the 2 being a lot more even, though Matthews will always be the better goal scorer no question.

I just find the comparison interesting, there's a lot more that lines up between the 2 than you might think.
