I got pet insurance when we got my dog 2 years ago.

Sure it's around 35$/month but with the amount of crap that dog ends up eating, I'm guessing it could help us avoid what you're going through.

I'm lucky my dog doesn't eat poop around there house except if we let a lasgna un-freeze on the counter.

She had a bump on her back for a while, vet told me not to worry about it on her annuel check-up. It bursts a couple months ago, turns out it was a skin cyst. Read online said it happens alot. I shaved the area and desinfected it for a couple of days until it healed, probably saved 1k in vet bills.

You are not obligated by law to have house insurance, it's your bank that forces you to have one when you have a mortgage because they own the house, you're just allowed to hang your clothes in there while you pay it off.
