I am just not in the camp of overpaying for a player that has average/mediocre back-up goalie career numbers and is already 27.

But if you are in favour of overpaying players, then have at it.

how many goalies in the league are very good and younger than that? not many. if you can't accept that goalies often reach their prime in the second half of their twenties that's your thing.

I am not the one who always says he is just 27 and had room to grow, also is (now) comparable to Corey Crawford.
