Everyone just falls in love with that guys size, he can produce offensively over 82 games, but you just have to deal with his inconsistency, not unlike most NHL players that aren’t elite.

Still not an 8.5M guy but he is only 25. Still time like Miller.

If Laffy was such a success then why did they move onto Suter? Also what about Garland?
- manvanfan

Laffy cooled but he didnt become a liability. After Suter returned, there needed to be some shuffling. The one line RT wasnt going to tinker with was Blue Gars and Josh... even though thats where Suter was pre injury. By the end of Suter's return game, Petey's line was where he found himself and been there since.

As far as Garland goes... he's having success in the eyes of the coaches. A post game presser doesnt pass these days without RT giving credit to Garland. Not much sense in discussing lack of success with him. He's being relied on by a coach who has no patience for floaters. That speaks volumes.

I agree. How can being Petey's winger most of last and this season be not considered a position to succeed? The two players that have been tried since Kuz's demotion both showed instant scoring success while being defensively sound and never got caught out on a extended shift.

One of the coaching tactics that I have liked from this group, is the willingness to move players in and out of the top 2 lines, sometimes because you need a bit of a physical presence, like Lafferty and PDG, and sometimes you need that solid defensive player who can also provide a bit of offense, like Suter/Hoglander

At this point, no certainly not. Three out of six seasons 60 something points isn’t 8.5 million but they’re hedging their bets, I guess.

Tocchet likes pairs, he’ll switch a third wheel in and out, said he learned that from Scotty Bowman.

Got to think Dakota is the front runner for unsung hero at this point in the season.

2nd place to DeSmith but he needs more starts yet....
