Remember when people used to complain that Aqualini was too involved with the day to day operations and insisted that the team would never have success as long as he was the owner?
- dbot

I think the comments were more along the lines of “if he keeps meddling in hockey ops the team won’t have success”. Leave hockey to the hockey people. Leave the business to the business people. Just makes sense to me.

Actually, I don’t think any other Canuck owner has enjoyed as much success as Aquaman has experienced.

Eh
I feel the need to say something.
I am a long time reader but I can count on the fingers of my hands the number of comments I made throught the years. This is awesome work I hope Carol still have a user and come read your article because the quality is very close to her writing.

I sure the hell didn't and I'm loving every minute of being wrong.
I was as close as I've ever been to quitting on this team last season(I stopped watching games at the end of January) and I've been around for some dismal chapters.
This team is fun, I hate Miller less and am happy with the style of play and the effort this team puts forth although the power play could be better.
Now I must make blueberry chutney for the lamb chops tomorrow night.

Merry Christmas. I'm making Perogies today and listening to some vinyl. But yeah, fun times indeed. I used to watch the games alone but now there are 4 of us that get together on Saturdays. Also when I wear my Canucks gear out people are stopping and talking Hockey with me. Just a whole different attitude around the team this year.

I saw a recent interview with Rutherford and he was asking about his contact with Aqua and he said "we text from time to time but there might be stretches when a month will go by and I don't hear from him." - something along these lines....

I think a lot of people would agree with most of these points.

One thing I'm not hearing anyone complain about is the team being soft. They've thrown the 3rd most hits in the league and have Zadorov, Joshua, Blueger, Cole, Myers, PDG, Friedman, Juulson, Miller, Soucy will all drop the gloves - they start and finish scrums regularly. Its a nice change in culture and the physicality will help them during playoff hockey.

Happy holidays to the lot of you ugly MF's.

Hey thanks NYN for the research and digging. Very good job.

First place baby. We have gotten the points we were suppose to and that is all you can ask for. I don't know if I am very surprised. They always had the scoring they just needed to fix the D.

Looks like PA got it right with the coaching and attention to detail. What a fun half year.

I'm just rolling along here today - focussing on the positives from the first half of the season. I know you guys hate optimism but heres a few beauties.

EP, Boeser, Mikeyev and Kuz have taken each 1 penalty - that's insane!

How good are our bottom 6? and the value is decent (minus Garls) - Joshua, Garland, Blueger are fun to watch - Aman, Lafferty, Suter have a lot of strong offensive shifts, great forecheck to watch. (Heads up, there's some decent bot6 guys right on the doorstep ready to step in like Bains, Karlsson, Raty, Pods, Neilson, Dries - playing great in Abby.

Millers attitude has changed quite a bit (although I don't mind the fireyness) - that trade should forever be put to bed. He's the kinda dude you need to push you thru the playoffs) - I think he's as much of a captain as QH

Quinn and Hronek - obviously they log insane minutes and play the other teams top lines so mistakes are gonna happen but overall they've have been game changers. Another trade I'm happy with - even tho I hate losing draft picks.

Our defence has improved.....it's different, big, physical, versatile, fast, and just nice to see a system and it rebuilt. There also some depth, Cole, Wolinen, Woo, Brisebois, Friedman, Irwin, Hirose, - Willander, Hunter, DPetey in the pipe.

Casey Fawking DeSmith guys!! Jesus H
The trades for him, Laffy, Zadorov, Friedman all home runs

Brock Fawking Boeser playing his a$$ off - good for him, a lot haters don't you forget who you are. This kid went thru some heavy sh*t, and most of you turned on him, and he's overachieving and proving some sh#T

Hogs is starting to find his most effective qualities and turn them into points - hope he stays his whole career here.

Looking forward to the world juniors, I heard Dave Hall give some good feedback about some of our prospects, Temper expectations for Willander, dont expect him to put up points, he's not exactly that guy. Won't be on the PP but just watch for the skating, passings and IQ. Expect DPetey to be a shut down machine, hopefully that pick lands in our lineup someday soon. Lekkerimaki should have a big tourney but if he doesn't, no biggy. He's been solid, more consistent than any other kid his age in the S League.

Happy holidays folks - enjoy your families

DPetey from the start has reminded me of the second coming of Edler.

Thanks York

Seahawks pulled it out again at the end of the game.

I hope you all enjoy your Christmas.

I had friends from Korea come into town on Thurs. and I'm making Julia Child's beef bourguignon for dinner tonight

Making perogies also, 5 doz potato Cheeze and onion and another 4 doz bacon sauerkraut. My parents owned a Perogy House restaurant in Osoyoos when I was a kid. Family tradition for pre Christmas meal. Enjoy!

“We don't talk about it, but as competitive human beings in the NHL, we love shoving it back at people,” Canuck centre J.T. Miller said of skepticism, mostly analytics-based, about the team’s validity.

Merry Christmas.
