And I think Granato and Adams have destroyed Cozens confidence. From flopping him around the lineup to his GM calling him out for his truthful remark. - Buff36

They could have used Peca to develop their own version of a modern Drury, that would be a strong move using the internal approach. - washedup20
They can still rectify the Peca mistake, but would Peca even be interested in coming back? |

He has all the leverage, I wonder what his terms would be if those conversations were happening.
Granato is basically co-gm with Adams, does Peca want that responsibility?
How do you sell this situation to a new GM/coach while also explaining it will be different this time even though Terry will still be heavily involved?

Yeah we could use are Drury and that's a cool story. - Buff36
I came up with three players that came closest to fitting the Drury profile at the time he was traded to the Sabres.
None are a perfect match, but tried to get as close as I could, with cup winning experience being the key.
https://www.capfriendly.c...players/valeri-nichushkin
https://www.capfriendly.c...s/players/anthony-cirelli
https://www.capfriendly.c...rts/players/nicholas-paul
Summary: I'm not a huge fan of Cirelli's contract compared to his production, and while not a fan of the postseason incident surrounding Nichushkin last season, I highly doubt Colorado would trade him.
Is Nick Paul the under the radar trade acquisition that could begin to help change the culture of the team, for all his abilities and experience?
Wonder what it would take to trade for him from the Tampa perspective. |

Would he want to come back for anything less than the head coaching position? |

Paul could be, actually wouldn't mind Stamkos either. What it would take to get Paul, really don't know plus don't think Adams has the Pecans to do it. |

GM sucks
Coach sucks
90% of the team sucks
I know this is not really a thing anymore but when I played after an effort like that, I knew the next practice was going to consist of no pucks and the occasional puking player. - hehateme
It wasn’t even the next practice. It was immediately after the game- both in HS and college. A game in college, we played so poorly that the stands were still filled with people and most hung around to watch us skate without pucks or sticks for almost an hour. Unfortunately- this team is fragile and handled with kid gloves. Kinda funny how all the guys we gave big contracts to are basically adding nothing to the current roster |

I'd ask some Tampa fans what it would take, but I don't see a Tampa blog here anymore.
Bonus with Paul: He's from Mississauga, which is 2 hours from Buffalo.
Maybe that would help overcome his no trade clause. |

Isn't he a core piece to their current team, who is in the playoff race? Why would they trade him?

They need a real President of Hockey Operations. Pegula either needs to sell or step far enough away and let Hockey people run the show. And just stepping away might not be enough to get good people here. |

Believe he is.
Would likely need to be an offseason move, one where they'd like to get younger and perhaps cheaper.
That's the only way I could see it working. |

And imagine, he played really well and only got an .840 to show for it. The number of times we left a Bruin wide open in front was staggering. Coyle's goal was almost comical. |

Still wondering why Dahlin left his side, left Coyle all alone. |

What your describing was a problem that was known prior to making a 21 year old rookie the solution to the problem. |

Tage said they let outside noise affect them after the 9-4 loss.
Samuelsson after last night:
"Obviously tonight we were on the wrong side of both special teams," Samuelsson added. "You’re not going to win a lot of hockey games like that. We can’t give up three. I think we have a really good penalty kill. We’ve just got to get back to the basics, pressuring the puck. Sometimes when we start overthinking it that’s when things aren’t going well. I’m not a power-play guy, but we obviously have to generate more than that with all those chances."
Tuch on last night:
"We’re overthinking everything," Tuch lamented. "We’re double-touching pucks. I’m double-touching on the goal line. I’m putting them out of a guy’s reach. We’re shooting when we shouldn’t. We’re not shooting when we should. We’re passing up good opportunities. We’re not supporting each other. It just adds up. It’s a snowball effect and each guy has to look at one another and try to work for one another because it’s five against four. We shouldn’t be out there getting out-chanced at times on power plays, where the PK gets more chances than us and that’s just not OK."
Cozens on the team:
"I think we definitely play way too soft. We're too easy to play against and we need to get a little 'FU' in our game," Cozens said on Saturday to Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News, after a 6-2 loss the Carolina.
"I think we had more of that last year. We're way too soft this year. I feel like we don't kill plays. We kind of get bullied and stuff and we know we need to be way harder to play against. We're too easy to play against right now."
How does the GM who says there is no higher standards than inside those walls, see this and think, lets continue this? |
