What your describing was a problem that was known prior to making a 21 year old rookie the solution to the problem. - washedup20
Levi and UPL do solve the issue of goaltending. The problem is the goalie is at the mercy of our defensive performance and that's been woefully insufficient. |

Still wondering why Dahlin left his side, left Coyle all alone. - Buff36
Sadly, we have 0 defenseman that have the ability of playing actual defense. |

PATIENCE REQUIRED
The Channel 7 combo of Jeff Russo and Shawn Stepner took turns directing questions to Regier.
"When you’re talking about suffering in terms of the rebuild, it sounds like you're asking for patience," Russo said. "Is that a fair thing to say?"
"It is."
"Is it fair to expect that with the disappointment over the last two seasons and the time frame set up by this organization in saying the Stanley Cup was three years away three years ago, is it fair to expect that patience?"
"If there was another alternative and if there is another alternative, we will do everything we can to find it," Regier said. "Short of that alternative, then it may well require some patience, but the payout is what it's about. It is about and where Terry is, it's about a Stanley Cup championship. It is not just a playoff run."
Regier had previously mentioned Pittsburgh's drafting of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, and Chicago's selections of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Pittsburgh drafted high because it finished in the bottom five of the league four straight seasons. Chicago's skid in the bottom five was three straight.
"So along those lines about patience," said Stepner, "are we looking at and are fans looking at a building of a championship team process like the Penguins went through, like you mentioned Chicago went through, where you gather those assets that are younger, you are at the bottom of the league. Not that you're saying you're planning on being at the bottom of the league …"
"No," said Regier.
"But going that route," Stepner continued, "can fans expect that short term?"
"Fans should expect that we will acquire top players and enough top players to contend and win a Stanley Cup," Regier said. "The hope is that involves the shortest time frame possible. The teams that you talked about in the case of Chicago and Pittsburgh and L.A., but L.A. is a little bit of a different situation, required patience. It did.
"But it's a shift from a playoff round or making the playoffs to having bigger plans, bigger goals, bigger, you know, going for it all. And Terry's made that decision. That's what he wants to do. That's what he's going to do, and it's a shift because generally in the National Hockey League how you keep your job, how you keep fans happy is by getting in the playoffs, by playing a round. It's not the happiest. It's not the saddest, but it's a level. It's an acceptable level. It's an acceptable standard around the league. It's just not the standard here. And I recognize I'm saying that in light of two missed playoffs. I realize that."
Benigni later asked Black about Regier's vision.
"It is not my vision personally," Regier interjected. "It's a team. This is a team thing."
The team vision rolled on with Pegula and without Regier, who was fired seven months later. Seven is also the number of seasons without playoffs in Buffalo. That's why of the more than 7,000 words that were said five years ago, one lingers.
Suffering.

No issue is solved on this team, they are part of the team, they play bad too. There isn't a player on the team that is above criticism. No one has done their job this season.

Has anyone ever heard a coach say
I will teach them defense next year then when the team is awful at playing defense say oh we will revert to last years system then come out looking the same. Granato is nothing more than a grifter like Kreuger.
Granato admits he is not capable of coaching this team
After 80 games and a 27th ranked PP he says he will be part of the process?
Like he is part of the process to get this team to play defense?
The coach is a complete failure. |

My money is on Granato being the coach starting next season too.
Maybe Pegula needs a tax write off as he is driving the value of this team into the ground. |

Huh? There are no players on this team that have played on a winning team in the NHL - rapperray
I believe signing Okposo and The Girgster doomed this team right from the start. None of those prospects believe in either of them and would only put on some kind of act to please KA and Donnie.
Again I'll tell you it was another huge mistake to not trade a late rounder for Bortuzzo. A Stanley cup guy with leadership qualities. There are others that will or are available but KA would have to dump the present so called leaders to reboot this team.
Okposo and his career year should be very easy to unload. Girgs with a hot rag on his a$$ would make a good Zamboni for some budget team. |

Linus signs a 1 year deal.
Montour signs a 1 year deal.
VO signs a 2 year deal.
Eakin signs a 2 year deal.
Girgs signs a 3 year deal.
Lazar signs a 2 year deal.

Another underachieving performance another day that meatstick and friends are still employed. If they lose another uninspired effort against Columbus will they finally pull the trigger?
The only chance I dont see a top 15 mock draft at the end of the month is with a new coaching staff who lights a fire under the locker roon
I dont want to believe the standard is so low for this organization, but here we are |
|

It wouldnt surprise me to see Okposo on this team next year.
His leadership in being there for the guys next year when they miss the playoffs invaluable. |

I wonder if there would be any takers for okposo at the deadline or sooner.
As it stands we ought to be selling half the roster off, starting with the captain who might actually hold some value. |
