Well I just canceled my streaming service not worth 100 buck a month to just watch sabres games... Im checked out for the year (frank) this GM, and coach pure trash.
I used to listen to the sabres on the radio as a kid because they were not on TV back then.... now I don't even give a crap.. . Thank Terry for finally breaking any semblance of being a sabres fan... you're POS too.

The Ryan Johnson move has to be a paper thing before they put Comrie on waivers tomorrow. Has to be. I refuse to believe otherwise.

If that's the plan, why continue to hold off on waiving Comrie?

So much fear of waivers. Is their really a big difference between Tokarski and Comrie?

We're almost at a full season of mismanaging 3+ goalies and 3.5 of bad decisions in net.

Hope Terry is asking questions.

The Sabres were all about not blocking development until they actually have to make a tough decision to accomplish that goal.

Well, it has started for me.

Silayev:
Silayev is a mountain of a man. He stands 6'7, weighs 207lbs, and he's only seventeen years old! By the time he stops growing, and fills out his frame, he could easily approach 225 - 230lbs.
Silayev is playing in the KHL. He's being used in all situations. Although his offense has dropped off recently, he continues to contribute in a variety of roles. His long reach, and huge frame, will assist him with his defending on the smaller ice surface in North America. What impresses most is his smooth skating stride is, and how agile he is walking the offensive blue line to distribute pucks or direct them on goal from range. Silayev has two assists in his most recent ten game segment. He's averaging between 13:30 - 15:40 TOI, which is very impressive for a seventeen- year-old defenceman skating in the KHL.
- CapFriendly

Silayev has come out of the gates soaring, being an important part of a successful Torpedo organization in the KHL as a 17-year-old. Silayev is a unique type of prospect. He’s a 6-foot-7 defenseman who skates well, is mean as hell, and is already a very strong defender at the KHL level. He is also on a KHL power play at a young age, and he can move pucks quite well. The offensive touch in his game has developed quickly, but I believe it’s legit, and for those reasons I think Silayev has legit NHL star defenseman upside and deserves to be discussed right at the top of this draft class. - Corey Pronman

Silayev is a unicorn 6-foot-7 defenseman who has risen to the top of the class playing legitimate minutes for one of the KHL's better teams through the first couple of months — an extremely rare feat for a 17-year-old. He has already broken the league’s under-18 scoring record by a defenseman, and will soon break the under-19 one. He’s playing on the power play, consistently registering multiple shots per game, and has even played both sides. Silayev is an excellent skater who walks the line with ease, drops back onto his heels comfortably, and pushes forward to either carry pucks up ice, close gaps, or disrupt a carrier with an active stick. Despite how prodigious his play has been, he looks like he's only scratching the surface of his true potential as well, with steps to be taken in his decision-making on the puck (I find he's a little too trigger happy — he actually shows good poise and comfort when he doesn't rush), his shot (which he gets off in volume and does a good job putting on target, but will definitely add power as he gets stronger and works on it), and his ability to impose himself with his size (which he's doing more and more of, now leading Torpedo in hits). He has shown some soft skill for a big man, he's disruptive in zone defense and hard to beat off the rush because of his length, and there's plenty of room for continued growth and development within his game. There are some scouts who think he's the top D prospect in the draft, and a real contender for the top two or three picks. I'm still partial to Levshunov, but debated ranking Silayev as high as No. 5 here. - Scott Wheeler

Perhaps the most flat-out intriguing prospect on TSN’s pre-season list is 6-foot-6, 203-pound Russian left-shot defenceman Anton Silayev. When TSN made its initial inquiries of the scouts on the Class of 2024, Silayev was nowhere to be found. But once the KHL started playing games in the last couple of weeks, scouts were scrambling to get a handle on the Russian behemoth who seemingly came out of nowhere to create seismic shock waves in the scouting community.

The scouting opinions on Silayev are all over the place. What we do know is that in his first four KHL outings he played close to 20 minutes per game and picked up four assists. Russian scouts immediately alerted their NHL teams to this larger-than-life surprise. Some teams have already done deep (video) dives on his KHL games — as well as looking back on what seem to be pretty non-descript scouting reports from last year — while others are just now coming to the Silayev party.

But there’s an incredible buzz about Silayev because, in an admittedly minute sample size, he does look like a prospect with all the tools to be a No. 1 NHL defenceman. But where on the pre-season list do you slot him, when some of the scouts we surveyed still haven’t watched him play and aren’t quite sure yet what to make of him?

Well, one scout said Silayev could eclipse Levshunov and Richardinson as the top D prospects in the draft, and he should be immediately pegged as a Top 5 pick. Some others said it’s way premature to even put him in the pre-season Top 10. But there were enough of our 10 scouts who believe he has tools that will allow him to challenge the Big D Three of Levshunov, Richardinson and Jiricek and, given his size, could already be eclipsing a gaggle of smaller, more one-dimensional offensive defencemen.

As long as Skinner is on the top PP, I question what they are thinking. 2nd PP is probably better than the 1st like this.

Maybe that's the plan. Even split, and see how things go.

Yet nobody in the media has the balls to openly call him out on it.
"Like, WTF Kevyn, what were you thinking signing and wasting $ on Girgenson, Jost, Okposo, Johnson and Clifton, while not trading Olofsson and Comrie for anything? That is a complete and utterly ridiculous waste of $17.5m. Also, how can you make the case that this wasn't an overt blocking of your young players that is supposedly a critical tenant of your so called strategy?"

Not the Talent keeping good people from coming here, it starts with a P and ends with a A.

I don't doubt it at this point simply because he's the common denominator. Since he bought us, we started losing badly. I hope one day he can keep his hands to himself.

2017:

The Sabres have some good young talent in place, namely forwards Jack Eichel, Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane and Sam Reinhart, as well as defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.

Botterill was key in putting talent around Penguins superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to win the Stanley Cup last year, and he will look to do the same with Eichel as the centerpiece in Buffalo.

Buffalo’s cupboard isn’t entirely bare. Murray brought in several key assets, including centre Jack Eichel, who was selected with the No. 2 pick — one behind Edmonton’s Connor McDavid — in the 2015 draft.

Buffalo’s young core also includes two-way centre Ryan O’Reilly and defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen.

Botterill particularly mentioned Eichel and O’Reilly as reasons he’s excited about the Sabres’ potential.

"You look around the National Hockey League, people are craving for centermen like O’Reilly and Eichel," he said. "And the fact that we have them here, it’s a good feeling."

2020:

Adams faces a considerable challenge in shaping a roster that lacks secondary scoring and could face a salary-cap crunch with numerous players eligible to become restricted and unrestricted free agents this off-season. He also stands to prepare for a draft with a new scouting staff.

"I believe that winning is doing it together," Adams said of his collaborative approach. "We’re going to be positive. And I’m really looking forward to what lies ahead."

Botterill was under fire for mismanaging the lineup with numerous questionable moves, while attempting to rebuild the roster through youth.

December 29th 2023:

The Sabres have a lot of youth and potential for the GM to build around but are missing the proper leadership, role players, coaching and yet to find their identity.

- washedup20

So the problem has been the same all along, we have had good players and the inability to coach them. I didn't see any lies there is all I mean. Jack, RoR, Sam...they were great players. We simply ushered in bad coach/GM after bad coach/GM. At the same point, I think, given that Adams was hamstrung into trading Eichel/Risto at least for futures, he had less to work with in the now.

For the next GM, we have a top9 with some promise, three potentially great, young defenders and the best young goalie tandem in the league (suck it Beady).

Beane runs the show for the Bills, it's in his contract. But would that even convince a good GM to come here and take over his Hockey team. Sabres are a joke to other franchises, nobody wants to deal with Adams cause all he does is talk.
