Paul Hamilton calling out adams for his pathetic offseason and flawed vision for this season is great
Refusing to call for adams job under this premise that firing everyone every 2 years doesn't work when it's going to be 4 years, then listing st Louis as the only team to fire their coach and win the cup, using the cup as the only measurement as the only payoff worthy of a firing is ridiculous

Why would anyone want adams to have another chance? He has no experience to lean back on and hasn't proved one time that he is capable of being a GM of a successful team here
This offseason is just as if not more critical than last and he threw up a big fat zero |

Partial quote from Tim Graham's Athletic article after the Bruin loss......
"....with power-play coach Matt Ellis, the former Sabres forward who recorded one power-play assist in his NHL career and hadn’t coached professional hockey until Granato hired him 228 games ago."
What a f__king joke of a coach Granato is and what a f__king joke of an organization the Sabres are.
The Sabres PP is so pathetic, here's what i would do. Put Greenway on PP1. Tell him to stand in front of the net and screen the goalie. Period. Tell Dahlin and Thompson to fire away. Have Cozens and Benson crash the net with Greenway. Those are the only 3 guys on the team that will get dirty. |

Not that it makes a material difference to your overall point but Lance says Ellis was KA's hire

if kulich or rosen was up and appert was coaching
I have no doubt kulich and rosen would be in the middle 6, not on a larry line |

Good question, if he does, this situation screams of Adams trying out internal options, which would indicate the pressure has begun from above. |

Agreed, this isn't a good look for Adams personal hire Ellis not getting the Bench tonight |

Sabres projected lineup
Jeff Skinner -- Tage Thompson -- Alex Tuch
JJ Peterka -- Dylan Cozens -- Jack Quinn
Jordan Greenway -- Casey Mittelstadt -- Zach Benson
Zemgus Girgensons -- Peyton Krebs -- Kyle Okposo
Rasmus Dahlin -- Mattias Samuelsson
Owen Power -- Henri Jokiharju
Ryan Johnson -- Connor Clifton
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
Devon Levi
Scratched: Victor Olofsson, Erik Johnson, Eric Robinson, Eric Comrie
Injured: none
Status report
Neither team held a morning skate. … Tarasov could start after he was scratched Friday for a 6-5 overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Merzlikins, a goalie, left the game against Toronto with an illness and was replaced by Martin. … Girgensons, who has missed 16 games with a lower-body injury, could return against Columbus. The Sabres will need to make a roster move to activate him from injured reserve. If he doesn’t play, Robinson, a former Blue Jackets forward, would likely draw in alongside Krebs and Okposo. |

Tell you Boy's this past off-season was a Joke and it's rearing it's nasty Head!
Should have just given Me a Bottle of Jack, 10 Hookers a Ounce of Coke and My Kicked Up Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge and we would have gotten some players to sign on the Dotted line. Might not have known what they were signing by the End of the tense Negotiations but they were Smiling when they did it. Would have Pictures taken for proof just in Case any funny stuff happens. |

yeah, brilliant (frank)ing response. No one's ever made a bad hire before, and once you're hired, you can't be un-hired.

Bills working out La'la Collins OT, if he's got his Head right and Healed from that ACL/MCL Tear could be a nice get for the PS for Good Veteran depth |

You mean 4 minutes isn't enough for a prospect to get adjusted to the NHL? |

I am a long suffering Sabres fan that lives in BC. I also watch Canuck games and support the Canucks. They have the same crappy history of the Sabres. It must be something about the year they both came into the NHL. And one other common denominator, the Canucks have a lousy owner whom the fans out here hate.
However, they made some smart moves within the past 12 months or so. At the start of the 2022/23 season, this was their coaching staff:
Bruce Boudreau, Head Coach.
Brad Shaw, Assistant Coach.
Jason King, Assistant Coach.
Ian Clark, Goal-tending Coach.
Apparently all the players loved Boudreau as a coach. He was a "players coach". But he's soft as vanilla ice cream. They were brutal at the beginning of last year and they eventually fired him and all their coaches.
These are the Canucks coaches right now:
Rick Tocchet - Tough as nails player, no nonense coach
Adam Foot - Tough as nails player, no nonence defence coach
Mike Yeo - former NHL coach with a record of 263-217-62. He won a Stanley Cup as an Assistant Coach on the Penguins.
Ian Clark - Goaltending Coach. Been coaching goalies in the NHL since 2000.
Jeremy Coliton coaches their farm team in Abbotsford. The former NHL coach had a 87-92-26 record.
Tocchet has established a culture of accountability. He sits players who don't compete and play the style he wants. He doesn't care if their feelings get hurt. He calls them out in the local media often - to send them a message. They either adapt or they get sent down to the farm team.
The Canucks management didn;t sit on their hands this off season. They brought in guys with tenacity, grit and PK abilities such as:
Teddy Blueger, Sam Lafferty, Pius Suter, Ian Cole, Carson Soucey, Nikita Zadorov. They brought in Casey Desmith as a back up to Thatcher Demko and he has been excellent.
Last year, the Canucks finished 22nd overall with 83 points. The Sabres finished 19th overall with 91 points. This year, the Canucks are 1st overall and headed to the playoffs. The Sabres are sitting in 27th place and preparing for another Top 10 draft pick.
IMO, Adams and Granato are equally culpable for this mess. They along with their assistant coaches should be fired. They should be replaced with a real President of Hockey Operations, a real GM with experience, a real coach with experience and some real NHL assistant coaches with experience.
The core players are probably fine but obviously they need to change the make up of the team. The cupboards are full of prospects and potential. This doesn't need to be a tear-down. If they make the right hires, this could be a quick reset. Maybe they could make a run for the playoffs but probably not. But they could definitely set themselves up now to do a Canucks type leap next year - if they don't wait any longer and f--k it up.
Having said all of the above, i have zero faith in Pegula or the organization to make the necessary tough decisions. The suffering will continue.
