Thank god we didn’t get that guy, what an absolute bum - ClaudeFather
one of the few moves Chuck made that was smart.
Wouldn't be totally shocked if he ended up here at some point in the next few years. |

LOL, of course his salary matters. I guess you don't think the Flyers can ever become a really good team with elite players who command high salaries where they'll need cap space to pay those players instead of paying a 3rd pair defenseman 5.1m. That is really shortsighted thinking on your part.
You're another guy who apparently doesn't think that you can enjoy watching the team play while also looking at the situation realistically. While remaining focused on the big picture and not being easily satisfied with a short period of quality hockey. If you want to dismiss factual information that is important to look at, that's
your choice. Its foolish but that's your choice. By the way, here is a post I made last night during the game in response to a poster who said he thought the Flyers were going to lose the game.
https://www.hockeybuzz.co...p?thread_id=186155&page=3
"Flyers are really 3rd in the Metro. We'll see, they played a strong first period and outplayed the Canucks."
What other nonsense do you have? - MJL
Yes, I said that BEFORE the game was played. The Flyers are normally not very good with the later starts, especially after a week off. Playing in Vancouver, top team in the league before play started, top home team, just seemed like a guaranteed loss. I was wrong last night, but I maintain my position that the team is not good enough overall to make the playoffs. |

First off, you’re on a hockey blog website with maybe 50 active flyers fans. Nobody, and I mean nobody is watching a Flyers game and thinking I wonder what MJL is going to comment about the game. If you want to be takin somewhat seriously start your own blog on here. It’s right at the top of the home page. You would probably last a month before you’re axed. - Angus4444
Not sure I agree with you. Go check the comments right around the time the Flyers scored those three goals last night. Most of the conversation was about what MJL would think about it (and he didn't even seem to be around at the time). On a daily basis more than half the posts here seem to be aimed at him; including yours (and this one!). |

I have no issue with your prediction. I thought the same thing before the game. I'm just responding to a poster who said I don't post during games and don't offer anything positive.

Brink was a liability all game long except for the farabee goal. Not sure about his long term viability he just doesn’t move like an nhl forward should, and is very slight to boot. Not a good combo - Just5
He definitely looks out of shape and I fully expect that to be apart of his end of season interview. He looks like Jonesy lol |

Exactly. It's pretty sad actually.

So Brink takes the puck away from a player that is what? 8+ inches taller than him, that directly led to a Flyers goal, and all Torts can say is he doesn't what he is doing.
This is the a$s stuff I hate. Why can't he say something like Brink got lucky with the check on Zadarov, and we are continuing to work on that side of the game with him. Instead, it's he doesn't know how to check his a$$.. - TheFreak
Yeah let’s just coddle these guys and ignore the rest of their game. He’s the coach. It’s constructive criticism. Were you one of those players that whine when coach didn’t pat you on the back for 60 minutes? 😂

No actually I wasn't. We didn't get particapaction ribbons when I played. I was more than used to the coaches dropping f-bombs, throwing their coaching pad, or a water bottle. Bag skates and no pucks.
I just think Torts could have approached the whole interview differently. He says what comes to mind, and I just think there could be a better approach than what he had. |

With all the talk of Brink's checking ability. Here are some facts concerning Brink's on ice performance defensively and where he ranks among Flyers forwards.
CF% 49.84% 7th
GF% 64.52% 1st
xGF% 51.94% 8th
SCF% 48.38% 8th
HDCF% 51.33% 8th
Respectable numbers for an NHL rookie.

That was actually a glowing endorsement. He even said he loves the kid in that comment. He basically let us know in his own way that he’s totally worth the coaching efforts to work on that aspect of his game bc of his other player/personal qualities. |

I take some responsibility for it as I should do a better job of ignoring the troll brigade. My opinions are fair game just like anyone else's are. However there are a collection of trolls who can't seem to keep it to hockey. I should fully ignore all of those non related hockey comments. Although I enjoy exposing them for what they are. That's the attraction. |

Watching his game last night and recently it wasn’t so much his Checking but his decision making handling the puck in the neutral zone as they were navigating up the ice. It’s been a bit cringe worthy lately. If he was just an average skater boy what a player we’d have |

There is no question about it. As a young player and an NHL rookie, there are going to be areas of his game that need to improve. There is also the issue of having at least some kind of consistency in how young players are treated. Tortorella is willing to accept and not comment on certain weaknesses in areas of play and also willing to ignore the same weakness in one player while commenting publicly on the same weakness of another player. All last season, Owen Tippett was woeful in his play away from the puck. He got a pass for the most part. |

exactly, he just had some words about his checking. Which is fine and fair game. Did anyone see that play where he just kinda stuck his butt out at the blue line trying to ride a guy off the puck? It looked awkward and the player got right around him.
I love Brink. I don’t think it’s bad to remind a rookie he’s got things to work on. But some posters feel these guys need their shoulders massaged all game |

Overall, Brink is one of the better forwards on the team with puck management and not turning over the puck. He is never going to be a speedster but his skating is good enough to be a good player. |

What a job by poehling on the shorty. If you haven’t watched the goal please do so. |

Btw, we dog on MJL mainly because he talks down to virtually every poster here while being consistently wrong in his assessments of players and coaches.
It’s quite funny to see a guy so confident in his delusions.
Its all public record 😂 |

I do my best to not join in the bad behavior. It's tough sometimes. Not sure why it's so hard to be civil online? I just wanted to celebrate the Flyers game here with other fans, last night, and was disappointed to find most of the commenters attacking you. Oh well, who am I to question how others get their enjoyment? I don't have to come around here if I don't like it, right? |

No I never said that, but thanks.
I just think the coach of a multimillion dollar NHL team could use a little bit more class when talking about his young players. No, there was nothing wrong with him criticizing the player and where work needs to be done. I just dislike the way he goes about it.
